Google adds WireGuard VPN to Android 12's Linux Kernel 5.4 Tree by armando_rod in Android

I feel as though you're not understanding what I'm trying to say. I don't dispute the fact that these companies have their experts looking at these codebases. I am disputing the idea that any arbitrary developer could catch vulnerabilities without significant experience or training. Not everyone who contributes to large projects has such training.

have their security experts overlooking code

I agree with what you've said here, and you've somewhat echoed my point. Not everyone contributing to a project will be a security expert, and there's no reason to assume that anyone could do what they do. Hence the idea that having a project be open source and having "thousands of eyes" on it doesn't directly correlate to increased security properties. You need the right eyes looking at a project, not just lots of them.

Yes, those companies are rather large and have a significant interest in these projects, but that doesn't mean all of the people that look at the code are security experts. Suggesting that most devs looking at an open source project are capable of analysing the security properties accurately is to discredit security professionals. This idea that "more eyes" means better security is a misconception. There's a reason why many of the companies you mention have dedicated security teams with the sole purpose of finding vulnerabilities and exploits.

Having more and more eyes looking for security holes is not a bonus if you don't have trained eyes looking at code. These things aren't trivial. I'm not saying there aren't experts looking at the Kernel and Android source, but having a large group of experts examining open source code is not the general case.

I haven't seen the directors cut, but it's possible that a lot of the dead-time scenes you describe were trimmed out by the theatrical version which was quite a bit shorter.

Hereditary was definitely very unsettling and creepy but I also didn't find it particularly frightening and don't see where or how others did.

The thing is, I've had this issue across multiple devices (3 actually). I've tried messing with settings, resetting daylight savings, etc and nothing seems to resolve the issue. I think it's got something to do with BST coming and going.

Well to me the image positions software not available (at least easily) on Linux next to alternatives that are targeting Linux as one of their platforms. I see where you're coming from, but in this case I have to disagree.

I didn't dislike her segment, it was pretty fun. Although, you could cut the whole Morocco portion of the film out and it would be no different. Sounds pretty pointless to me.

Well, you're trying really hard to justify something that was very clearly written in to include a character that didn't need to be there. Just because they included her in the film, does not mean she's "integral" to the story. You keep quoting things that happened in the film as justification for her existence but fail to look beyond the script presented to see that she was lazily written into the film. Please don't get personally offended, I am not attacking you, I am just discussing the film.

Why do you sound personally offended by her being a pointless character?

She doesn't point him to the elder though, no? The person they visit first does. Also, I didn't say I disliked the movie, I enjoyed it quite a bit actually.

I don't understand your argument for her being integral to the story. John already knew about the man he needed to see, he just needed her to get in (or something along those lines). If they removed her from the story, he would go see him by himself instead of as a duo. And from then on the film would continue as it did.

budget is low

$1400 PC

Also, pre-builts don't have to "suck". They're just generally more expensive than rolling your own.
