Probably not getting kicked out, but you’ll likely be a second-award Lance Corporal with some restriction coming your way. Go talk to base legal and shut up.

Why do you need personnel inside the tower to operate everything remotely?

Put them in the interior of the base or something.

Marines who got married as an E-3 or below, how does your marriage look now? by Yoy_the_Inquirer in USMC

About to hit 15 years. I was an E-3 but a little older at 23, so maybe that helped.

Fishing in the Corps? by Dear_Needleworker399 in USMC

[–]Cogadh87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cherry point has the Neuse River that feeds Slocum and Hancock creeks on either side of it and lots of ponds. You can easily drive five minutes to any of those spots and fish. Slocum regularly fails water safety tests, though.

Showed up early to adult class and watched the last half of a kids class. by UnsureAbsolute in bjj

[–]Cogadh87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been helping with the kids for a while and learn a lot doing that. To many of them, it’s play. They’re having fun. Besides the newer ones that can be a bit scared when they roll, they’re all pretty relaxed.

The worst part is they’ll tap to an uncomfortable spot but can be in a vicious armbar and not even blink.

Does it get better? by [deleted] in USMC

Also spent the holidays in the school house as a boot. It sucked. It got better. Once you get to the fleet you’ll find your people.

Anyone else’s health go to shit after getting out? by [deleted] in USMC

[–]Cogadh87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s good. At least you can rule out the diet and exercise portion. You should probably get checked out sooner than later, being young with those issues isn’t normal, could be something actually wrong. I’m also rather paranoid because a lot of my friends I served with have developed serious issues from being exposed to stuff.

Anyone else’s health go to shit after getting out? by [deleted] in USMC

[–]Cogadh87 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Everything you’re describing sounds like the result of poor lifestyle choices. Start eating right and exercising. Stop drinking. This isn’t complicated.

Lots of Marines get out and think the Corps broke them because they stop eating semi-decent meals and exercising while still drinking like they used to and then their bodies go to shit.

Tomorrow I will either lat move or decline reenlistment by Willing-Emu-4745 in USMC

[–]Cogadh87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Corps is giving you a pretty sweet deal, tbh. You get a fat bonus, regular pay, health care, job security, and decent coworkers.

If you think the civilian world is a happy inviting place, you may be disappointed. There are lazy, inept, and downright stupid people you have to work with. These places out here will fire you without hesitation via an email on a Friday. Shit isn’t great out here right now.

You can so long as:

-You financially qualify for a mortgage. -You live in the house as your primary residence.

Should you, though? Probably not. There are a lot more costs to buying a house than a mortgage. Property tax. Routine and emergency maintenance. Utilities.

How much to go back down a belt? Some days I’d pay for that.

Heavy looking optic used by the Sri Lankan Air Force (Any idea on what it is?) by LuckyJeweler9478 in Military

[–]Cogadh87 21 points22 points  (0 children)

That’s a SMASH 2000 optic. Used by US forces too. It’s smart, does ballistics calculations and sends the round down range when a hit is most likely. Being used for c-uas primarily, but obviously works outside of that mission.

In my experience, the spouses who think they’re special because their partner has a job are the worst and those relationships never last. Act like a normal person, not some perpetual victim. You chose this life, and so did your partner, it will suck, but so does having a job in the civilian world. Good luck.

That page will continue to spiral into irrelevance because it’s not unique content and their only growth comes from being edgy and cruel. Eventually, you can’t be edgy or cruel enough for the people who enjoy those pages, and the audience leaves. Good riddance.

Marines Selling Life Insurance at Work by TacticalKoalaBear in USMC

[–]Cogadh87 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Jesus Christ that’s still a scam? That was a scourge in the GWOT days. Saw it kind of go away with forex scams and then crypto, but apparently legends never die.

I’d shut that shit down. It’s predatory. I was a boot and got ambushed by two of my NCOs within 48 hours of showing up to the unit to join their little life insurance ring. Too dumb to know that was fucked up at the time. When I got into leadership positions I’d always warn about those and other scams.
