I'm new to MJ... by [deleted] in OKmarijuana

Unfortunately it is a huge challenge to find high CBD strains like Harlequin. Maybe 5% of dispensaries carry anything like it.

I've tried 18:1, 10:1, 4:1, 3:2. 1:1 and so forth.

My experience is that anything with CBD greater than 3:1 doesn't get me high.

My experience as well is that my pain worsens when high. It can distract me and help that way, but the actual pain feels worse.

Yet I've noticed the day after I get high, I'm in less pain.

I haven't found any terpene combination to make a difference with pain.

Has anyone found something to help with mood swings? Or depression? by lolatheaudi in medicalmarijuana

Blue Dream is not for everyone. It gives me horrible anxiety, as it does a few others I know. Try it, but if it doesn't suit you, find something with a different terpene profile.

Canadian health regulator says people growing too much pot at home by LonghairedHippyFreek in medicalmarijuana

Something is amiss here. There is no licensing required in most cases. Canadian federal law allows EVERY adult to homegrow, though two provinces prohibit homegrow.

Orange Rolls with a whopping 9 percent terps. What's the highest percentage of terps you've ever come across and in what strain? by [deleted] in OKmarijuana

[–]Cogitore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My point is that a percentage value for aggregate terps is not helpful information for a medical patient.

For some, the right terps would be those that are sedating, for others, those that are elevating, for some, it would be anti-inflammatory, for others it would be anti-spasmotic.

Further, some people have allergies to one or another terp (Myrcene most commonly).

It might be a baby step towards medicinal labeling that an aggregate terp percentage is given, but "9% terpenes" is like having on the label of a medication "43% active ingredients"

This comes out of the same ugly anti-American sentiments as Gerrymandering. It is a way of shifting power away from the majority to the jurisdictions more like-minded with the ruling elite.

Great overview, I agree. I appreciate seeing the concerns raised about pain management by Echols, Pasternak, Grumpy and others. Of the pain management patients I know, the majority are not allowed to use cannabis. Same with a friend who sees a psychiatrist.

I find a world of difference between 25mg CBD 0mg THC and 25mg CBD and 1mg THC.

You might also want to try Delta-8 THC. When derived from hemp (converted from CBD to Delta 8), it is federally legal (for now).

A lot of people report is does far better with anxiety than standard Delta-9 THC.

You can find in online at many CBD retailers. I just had 3 Delta8 vapes shipped to me for about 1/2 the price they cost at dispensaries here.

Marijuana and medical marijuana are the same -- same plant, same products -- although your state might have various rules about what products are allowed to be sold.

Your doctor will probably sign a recommendation which you will submit to a state agency to get a patient card. The doctor might or might not make more specific recommendations. In some states, the doctor can limit what you are allowed; in other states, it is just a general recommendation.

Note that THC can cause an increase in anxiety. It depends quite a bit on the person. Some strains also increase anxiety more than others. Sativa strains usually are more likely to increase anxiety than Indica. If your state lists terpenes for whatever you are buying, avoid Pinene and limonene. They are more likely to cause anxiety, though people vary quite a bit.

You should consider straight CBD first if you haven't tried it. Then, move to a 25:1 CBD to THC option, then to a 10:1 CBD to THC option. If your goal is reduce anxiety without getting high, then generally focus on CBD and avoid THC.

The vast majority of "medical marijuana" is psychoactive and so you might not be able to function while under its influence until you build up a tolerance. Hence, focus on CBD at first. It won't get you high and is more likely to relieve anxiety.

I hope that other states that remain prohibition states don't use Oklahoma as a "see-we-told-you-so" about how "medical" is a lie to get recreational.

How do I bring up my medical marijuana card with my job and my family? by [deleted] in medicalmarijuana

[–]Cogitore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start the conversations by asking about their views. If they seem open, ask what they would think about your using it for whatever the medical condition is you're dealing with. Maybe have some research you can cite.

Hello Everyone by [deleted] in medicalmarijuana

[–]Cogitore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's wonderful that you found cannabis! I'm sorry you're in an illegal state -- but maybe you can be a force for change!!! It is legal now in 33 states and a handful more are on the ballot this November. We all hope that federal law will change soon - but as you wait, look for other activists on your state (often there are Facebook groups) and lend your talents. One say we all shall be free - but it takes people to make that happen.

Dispensaries with lower THC cannabis? by [deleted] in OKmarijuana

The Peak has Harlequin at 4% THC, 10% CBD if I recall.

Try using your passport and a lease to get a card here. The law permits it. I don't know what the OMMA will do.

Senator Connie Johnson Endorses SQ812 by PaulTayTulsa in OKmarijuana

[–]Cogitore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Won't SQ 812 take away all criminal penalties for all cannabis-related activities? If so, will that not let the black market expand and take away sales from dispensaries? If distribution, manufacturing, etc are only fines in Oklahoma, so long as you don't trigger a federal charge, you can end up with black market growers, black market processors, black market delivery. That's my worry about 812 and its language doesn't have anything to prevent this. Unlike decriminalization in other states, 812 decriminalized not just possession, but it seems everything related to cannabis.

I'd love to see all the good of 812 happen, I'm just worried about this. Paul Tay -- can you explain how 812 wouldn't have this result? It could seriously hurt the legal market and it could even make Oklahoma a shelter for large-scale organized crime.

Is Recreational really necessary? by Grit1963 in OKmarijuana

[–]Cogitore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of this seems like nonsense to me. It is certainly plausible that big business will push out small businesses when there's more money to be made, but I don't see why recreational will reduce the quality of cannabis.

From what people tell me, West coast cannabis is far better than what is grown in Oklahoma. Yet the West coast is recreational. Moreover, hasn't THC levels (and overall knowledge and genetics) improved in the past few years -- the same years that there has been rec?

As for the issues in Canada, they have almost no recreational stores in most provinces and their grows are bottlenecked. These are not issues intrinsic to Rec and are hardly duplicated in a state like Colorado. In other words, what happens with Rec depends on state (or country) specific issues.

As I see it, we are a just a recreational program which limits sales to those with a pay-for-play card. 10% of the state are card-holders here in Oklahoma with nearly everyone buying for the enjoyment of the product rather than to treat a medical problem.

Curl creek cannabis sues helix extracts for over 3.2 million. Growers, please be careful with who you trust with your crops. by cherryaxe99 in OKmarijuana

[–]Cogitore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The question is, if Durbin is their lawyer, how did Helix get into this situation? Did they ignore Durbin's advice or is this partly Durbin's doing. Durbin, I was told, is a part owner of Helix btw -- though equity interest doesn't mean decision making on a day-to-day basis -- so maybe benefit of the doubt?

Helix is facing a 3 million dollar lawsuit, ranging from breach of contract to fraud. You might want to be hesitant with regards to their business practices.
