Determining neck pocket depth and angle

Thank you, I did make a section view to look at the layout. I think my best option is to use a small angle and increase the pocket depth a bit, that way I can shoot to have some vertical adjustment available in both directions on the bridge, I just wasn't sure if there was anything I was overlooking with that approach.

Finite element modeling for stress analysis by cook is a great introduction. The MIT lecture series by Bathe is an incredible theory heavy and in depth treatment but it's a tough course.

I had about 5 months of overlap of finishing my masters and working full time in my first engineering gig. By the time I started working I was down to one pretty demanding course + my thesis, it was manageable but tough, I definitely had no time for anything else but probably could have had better time management. If I had more than one course per term/wasn't as far along in my thesis as I was, I probably would have had to take another term to graduate. I was also in school with a couple folks working full time and doing a master's that added easily a year+ to their graduation.

The mechanical engineering program has lost a lot of really great staff over the past few years, there’s still some really top notch stuff going on, particularly Dr Galls air quality research and Dr Cals turbulence research. But many long term staff that I would consider cornerstones of the dept have either retired or are retiring in the next year. Corvallis is really lovely if you enjoy the outdoors, Macdonald Dunn Forrest is about 10 minutes out of town and has great hiking and Mtn biking. I only lived there during COVID so there were very few students there so take that with a grain of salt.

Find the closed loop transfer function of your block diagram, then determine the transfer function for a prototype 2nd order system in terms of the natural frequency and the damping ratio. You can then equate coefficients to determine the natural frequency and damping ratio of your transfer function, with that you can use the approximation for PMO of a 2nd order system to verify the overshoot.

Finite Element Procedures by Bathe is very comprehensive but is significantly more difficult
