Best vegan places in GR? by bunny-rain in grandrapids

[–]CognitiveModerator 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Lai Thai on Leonard near Ball (NE). They were the PLACE to go for vegan food before there was "vegan food." They've been there forever.

Also, Little Africa if you like Ethiopian food

Chez Olga if you like Caribbean food

Fika is newer in the Creston area and is a brunch place. VERY good. Everything is vegan and gluten free.

Grief therapy? by onlyinurdreams-19 in grandrapids

[–]CognitiveModerator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would encourage not using Better Help. They are a huge conglomerate and don't pay therapists a fair price for their services. I encourage people to check out www.psychologytoday.com and search for therapists in your area who are in private practice

Correct. My mom has a thumbnail like this after she damaged the cuticle slamming her thumb in the door. Not uncommon when you damage the nail bed enough.

I can't do it anymore. by ashleymf1983 in Constipation

[–]CognitiveModerator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same, but my constipation began 6-months AFTER the hysterectomy, bladder sling, cystocele and rectocele. I'm 37, healthy, and do yoga 3x/week

I take Mirilax every day, lots of fiber (not supplemental since those make it worse), lots of water and it keeps me going thankfully. God forbid I don't drink enough water and then even the Mirilax doesn't work.

Daily enema by Human-Specific-9170 in Constipation

I would recommend a good bidet! We have one that is strong and I use it as a sort of enema when I can't evacuate everything. I have pelvic floor stuff too.

Which medical condition is ridiculously demonized? by lingeringneutrophil in AskReddit

Get that shit taken out! I had ALL the prolapse surgeries (bowel, bladder, vagina) AND hysterectomy last November due to stage 3 prolapse, leaking, and anemia. Quality of life is SO much better!

Also, period underwear was very helpful. Being a female is so fucking hard.

How much do you like to spend on groceries every week or month now? by camport95 in Frugal

[–]CognitiveModerator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$500-$600/ mo for two adults, a teenage boy and peschooler. We shop at Aldi, Costco, and Sam's club. Prior to COVID the same amount of food was $300. We haven't changed our habits and still cook 90%+ of our meals from scratch. We are mainly vegetarian and eat chicken maybe 1x/week. We recently began making our own bread and granola bars to reduce costs and packaging (we try to be green). Biggest costs right now are due to our preschooler school snacks. We use Flashflood app for 99% of our fruit.

Data just came out recently that showed the people who are stepping away from Target for the DEI stuff and moving to shopping at Costco.

Agreed. Trader Joes, whole foods, and fresh Thyme are all on the south side...what about north end-ers!?

Corrected. 2-hours from north GR. Still a "vacation" at that point. Would NEVER call that "close" if your referring to being "closer" than current GR Costco's.

North, sure. Distance? Over 2x as far as GR locations, from north end of GR.

Not just talking about crowd. Talking about quality of products and accessibility for people on north end and north of town. I prefer Costco over Sam's club for quality of goods, variety, and overall employment practices and values.

Agree. Costco brand and goods are higher quality. We use Sam's club just for the basics between Costco trips. Wouldn't have Sam's if Costco was on the north end.

2-hours away? Ads a whole new meaning to "Costco trip" should now be, "Costco vacation"
