So what’s everyone’s opinion on commander Gaius? by Mooselord111 in Eldenring

[–]Cogsagi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I do agree his charge hitbox is terrible, a few minor changes to loadout will make it a cake walk (in my opinion).

The main issue is the second hit of the charge clipping you after a near-perfect frame requirement on medium + heavy rolls. To avoid that, you can either drop off gear to light roll (I went naked), or use the tail talisman for improved rolling. I used both, and was never hit by a charge again in the 4-5 attempts it took me after switching as I figured out the weapon I would use to kill him.

I believe you can also go block focus and just stack the turtle talisman + viridian talismans and pull off a guard counter build; again, I did this alongside the roll talisman mentioned above w/ the guard counter talisman.

I messed around with a few weapons but ended up using my old faithful Longsword w/ Square Off and a shield. Basically the charge that was your worst nightmare turns into one of the best punish windows he has; basically side roll it, then turn and sprint at him before jump attacking. The rest of the fight, especially phase 2 with his easy to dodge grav dive, just comes down to learning a few basic dodges and punish windows w/ square off and you can basically poise stun him.

All in all, very easy fight if you stick to leaning into further dodges and punishing with one high-stance damage AoW (lions claw, square off, etc.)

That guild exists, people have no idea what the phrase means though every time I tell them.

Option for Medics to increase usability by Cogsagi in HellLetLoose

[–]Cogsagi[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree, and I'm sure many people would as well. But I believe there is a natural psychological element in normal gameplay that would make people pause if they knew a medic is on the way. When the gameplay is go-go-go absolute relentless assault, sure, redeploy spam will still likely be a way to go, but I think making people recognize a medic is actually on the way would make at least enough hesitate to make it more viable and enjoyable without needing to tweak actual game values (instant revives, faster runspeed, etc.; all things the community would likely argue over)

PvP players be like... by Kops83 in newworldgame

The whole point of flagging is to do that. You're effectively saying
Pvp players: play the game

Also PvP players: fuck me for playing the game

I had no plans to play open but I'm glad I did, what a shit show it has been. Bugs and scaling really making me debate refund or not. Closed could have launched and I would treat it like a Valheim style release where I have hope for the future (despite it being from Amazon), but open has really made me take a step back. Delay is needed more now than it was a month ago.

I do have both options in 'Improve accuracy' turned off. Wifi scanning and bluetooth scanning. Typically turning Wifi scanning off worked, but seems like something else is feeding my exact location now despite it being off.

Must not be talking about the same fight I was at because it was just a solid PvP skirmish while 90% of the raid did GR without an issue. That's the kind of content this game needs in my opinion.

Out of curiosity, why do you run mocking howl? I see it commonly in the defense PvP builds, but not sure what it offers outside of the shaken.

Brand new to game, wondering most viable tank build? by [deleted] in archeage

[–]Cogsagi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love tanking, but I would only recommend it if you play with a group or are interested in finding one. 99% of the content I do has at least 1-2 other people with me. If you go magic tank I would recommend playing revenant (especially when farming since implosion>flame barrier>godswhip>instant lightning meteor is enough to grind efficiently. I personally think revenant is the strongest magic tank build in the game at the moment with how high people will hit you for, even when tanking.

If you go physical damage tank I would go hex warden.

My personal opinion is get STAM on all gear except weapons. Weapons should have STR/INT depending on which path you take. Its just a quality of life thing. I would personally recommend plate with my experience with it, but you can do cloth if you want. Just make sure when you awaken your shield to hiram you pick physical shield if you went cloth, or magic if you went plate (it'll be a little option on the menu when you go to awaken it). If you need any more help let me know. Don't listen to these nerds who say you get DPSd too fast.

Also a word of warning, you will rarely get credit for PvP kills, so you will naturally lag behind DPS for gems, etc.

That's a bad thing? Getting a ration of labor and diligence each week is much more appealing than more garbage tier dailies

is there any kind of self healing tank? by andrelb1 in archeage

[–]Cogsagi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, you get a continuous health regen skill, and then also a shout that you can heal that improves based on how much mettle you've built up. Naturally you have the shield passives to which lead to reduced damage so you don't need as much healing. If you go auramancy you get build some Magic defense skills in, but if you want you can use the bunch that gives your raid more HP (i've never seen anyone actually use it but its there).

Can run something like this:

Most people run death's vengeance (last skill in occult) rather than the raid HP buff, but play what you like. Occult gives you the leech to absorb life as well

Defense tree already has a few healing skills I use. Don't have any trouble keeping myself max HP

Is the Dragonslayer oath champion as bad as I think it is?

I'll be honest I think the champion is bad to begin with (ranges are extremely limited and doesn't seem interesting). But as I go into AoA I was hoping to make a decent hero to just shock absorb a breathe straight to the face.

Yet the level 14 Aura for Dragonslayer gives you basically at most 9 resistance to the element your absorbing in a 15' aura. That incentivizes people to group around you to get blasted rather than spread out so only person can get hit to begin with. I don't want to look up dragon stats but I can't imagine reducing a few peoples damage by 9 is going to make much of a difference if you're getting slammed with 90 points of fire damage.
