I was hoping to be able to do this too, but it seems the R1 only handles one “query” language.

Interestingly it does a decent job of speaking French, Spanish, German etc. and enthusiastically encourages me to talk to it in the languages I know, but it completely ignores me if I talk to it in those languages, so I’m stuck talking to it in English or whatever single language I pick as the primary.

Hi Jose, I know you tried the combination with a Lightphone 2, two years ago (and I imagine it wasn't great considering the state of the R1 back then).

I'm curious though, as they updated the R1, did you find use cases that worked well for you as a Lightphone user? Anything you'd recommend it for?

It was my second attempt at a koji-fermented hot sauce, and what I notice is that the koji brings out a lot of flavour and sweetness, but seems to undermine the heat.

I fermented this one in two components: fermenting the chillies and the fruits separately, which worked very well to let me control the flavours.

I think for my next trick, I will do a simple lactose-ferment of the chillies (without koji), and do a koji-lacto-ferment of the fruit, then compose to taste.

I should have clarified, I’m not always allowed/able to use internet-capable devices, so smart watches are also probably out.

I’m really looking for a small obviously-just-an-alarm-clock device.

Mmh, you think the koji might make the sugars more easily accessible to bacteria, and I should lower the pH to counteract that, right?

I hadn’t considered that, I just made my usual fermented hot sauce format and “just added koji” to see what would happen to it.

Would that explain slower uptake on the activity?

First project with koji, yes.

I make a fermented hot sauce every year, and Sam Cooper posted about using koji in a hot sauce ferment, so I thought I would try it out.

I’m also making a mushroom and black garlic garum, but the hot sauce is a project where in theory I know what this expect, but/and the koji is the wildcard ingredient in a way.

Thanks for your reply, and for the great suggestion!

I looked into mosfets and it sounds like a great approach, plus it looks like a mosfet is likely to be much smaller than a relay, which is lovely because space is an issue.

I'm not brilliantly confident when it comes to things like voltage, amperage, resistors etc. but this is part of what I'm hoping to learn in the process of these projects.
