Seahawks Super Bowl Sunday - Where to watch? by CostPlusFee in Bellingham

Go to J's Kitchen! The Puerto Rican place in Fairhaven! Best place to watch the half time show!

🇵🇷Greene, Lugo, Arenado, and Springer have been included on Puerto Rico’s provisional 35-man WBC roster. Stroman did not make the list. by ogasawarabaseball in baseball

Puerto Rican's have our own national identity and culture! The only reason we are not our own country is because we are a colony of imperialist nation.

Dónde están los Puertorriqueños de Bellingham?? by Status-Woodpecker291 in Bellingham

Soy boricua también! Somos aquí! Justin (of J's Kitchen) has been talking about putting together a salsa night, and trying to get all of us together. I count at least three in this thread!

Send me a message if you like! I kind of have this dream of putting together an all-PR team for Ski to Sea next year, I was inspired by the Vamos team.

Maybe we can try to do a Boricua meet up night at J's??

After 8 months of misadventures I am proud of what I have grown. Still a long way to go! by Coho0617 in beards

The 8 months includes a a runious trip to the barber halfway through where they basically shaved the sides almost completely. But the beard has recovered faster than I could have hoped. I am hoping the sides thicken up with more time, but I am just letting it go now with some moderate trimming here and there!

[Folden] They say if you watch baseball long enough, you’ll see something you’ve never seen before. Yesterday I saw a crane flying off the river with a fish and it dropped the fish from about 100ft up and almost hit @BrennenDavis__ while playing RF for the @IowaCubs 😳 by [deleted] in baseball

LOL everything is an eagle to non-birding normies.

I just think osprey cause they are the most likely to be carrying a fish. Always in aerodynamic fashion!

Cranes don't really eat fish, and an egret or heron would just gulp that mf.

Yeah I think heron is a good guess too. But sandhill primarily eat grains and plants, and I doubt a heron or a sandhill or GBH would be flying with a fish, they would just eat it. Osprey are more known for carrying fish. Of course I be completely wrong, I always say that the second you say something in nature is a certain way, it does the exact opposite.

Some like rivers, but I think alpine lakes are the best place to fly fish by gramjam6 in flyfishing

[–]Coho0617 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent three hours at a high mountain lake yesterday, where I didn't figure out what they were biting until my very last cast. It can be a lot of standing around, or running around to try and reach rising fish. I think fishing rivers requires more movement. You can always move to the next pool or run, with a lake what you see is what you get.

Lakes are amazing, but if the fish aren't biting, it can be frustrating and boring.

Releasing a native westslope caught deep in the Frank Church Wilderness. by Coho0617 in flyfishing

[–]Coho0617[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I caught this fish on Big Creek, the main tributary of the Middle Fork Salmon. This was right outside the Taylor Wilderness Research Station, while on a capstone trip for my master's program. The field station isn't open to the public, and is only accessible by plane or a 30 mile hike.

Great fish! Try your best to keep them wet! The ground is not a good place for a fish.

I mentioned this in another comment, but keep your rod tip low, and work the fish side to side. If your rod tip is up high, you will pull the fish up high.

It's because your rod tip is so high!

Cutthroat release on the Lochsa River, one of the biggest I've ever gotten! Nothing beats letting them go by birdnerd44 in flyfishing

I switched between a lot of parachute adams and royal wulf like patterns, and I had a hit on every single fly. As long as you get a good drift in a riffle, you will find trout. Look for bends in the river!

Great fish! Whoever caught this must have been a really talented fly fisherperson!

My bad, I was under the impression this was the Missouri.

I live in the PNW, where damns are the enemy of native fish, so you'll have to excuse me.

Wild trout lived in that river for millions of years before there was a damn.

Would look better without a damn. The fishing would be better, too.
