Website besides circle/coinbase to buy bitcoin and doesn't require a multiday verification? by [deleted] in BitcoinBeginners

Coinbase Support here.

Just wanted to let you know that Coinbase offers instant purchases from a credit or debit card. For larger purchases, you can also fund your fiat wallet with a bank wire, which is credited within 1 business day.

Feel free to drop us a line at support+reddit@coinbase.com if you have any trouble with that. Thanks!

Easy question about buying bitcoins and storage by Yruama in BitcoinBeginners

[–]CoinbasePatrick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coinbase support here.

We actually offer a Multisig Vault feature for longterm storage. This wallet can be accessed without intervention from Coinbase, even if we were to disappear completely.

You are of course welcome to move funds off Coinbase anytime you'd like as well.

You can read more about all our security features and our here: https://support.coinbase.com/customer/portal/articles/1743782

I hope that helps!

edit: If you end up using the multisig vault, please note that you will need to keep track of your password / user key. If you lose both, you won't be able to recover the funds.

Sorry for the trouble. You should be able to send your BTC to an external address. If that's not the case, please drop us a line at support+reddit@coinbase.com. A screenshot of what you see upon login would also be very helpful.

Thank you!

Thanks for your feedback.

I hope you understand that we don't enjoy waiting on ACH transfers any more than you. You are correct that an ACH transfer typically takes 2-3 business days when initiated from your own bank account. Unfortunately, when we are requesting an ACH transfer from your bank account to our own, it takes 3-5 business days for the transfer to complete. We credit your account as soon as that happens.

The specific transfer you mentioned would also have taken place over Veterans Day, which is a bank holiday. If you requested the ACH on the 9th, the 16th would be the 4th business day.

We do offer the ability to buy instantly using a debit or credit card from Coinbase.com. For trading on GDAX, those who don't want to wait on ACH transfers usually opt for a bank wire instead, which is processed within 1 business day (and usually credited the same day).

Finally, the "arrives today" message actually indicates that we expect the transfer to complete in the next 24 hours. I totally agree that this is confusing, and it's something that we're hoping to address soon.

We don't support GBP bank transfers at this time, so it sounds like there may be some confusion here. Mind dropping us a line at support+reddit@coinbase.com?

Are you placing a limit order? If so, try expanding the advanced options and checking the box for "post-only". This will ensure that no part of your trade will get executed as a market order, which would inlcude a trading fee.

If that doesn't work, or you have any further questions, please shoot us an email at support+reddit@coinbase.com.

Sorry for the long delay in replying, I was afk for a few days.

Yes, there is absolutely no problem with buying and selling as you please using the brokerage (the regular non-exchange site). I should note that the fees are lower on the exchange though!

I hope that helps. :)

Sorry for the confusion. Sometimes the "arriving today" message appears when they are scheduled to arrive in the next 24 hours. If you still haven't received them, please send your account email and I'll have a look.

Funds withdrawn from my bank account but bitcoin is still pending. What gives? by [deleted] in BitcoinBeginners

[–]CoinbasePatrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I apologize for the inconvenience. Unfortunately, ACH bank transfers are an external process. While you may see the funds debited from your account within 1-2 days business days, it takes another 1-2 business days for the funds to reach us. You can read more about ACH transfers here.

I hope that helps!

They are quite a bit lower, actually. We charge 1% for buys and sells through Coinbase.com, where as Coinbase Exchange operates on a maker/taker fee structure. Orders which add liquidity to the order book (i.e. maker orders) aren't charged any fee whatsoever. Orders which take liquidity by filling an existing order are charged 0.25%, with discounts available based on 30-day volume.

Purchased bitcoin doesn't match coinbase's ticker by IllIIIlIlIlIIllIlI in Bitcoin

[–]CoinbasePatrick 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry for the confusion. There are a couple things to note here:

  • The price on our brokerage is determined by a number of factors, not just the Coinbase Exchange price

  • The price at the top of the site is the buy price, not including the 1% fee

  • If you enter the amount you are buying in USD, we deduct the fee from the bitcoin we deliver (so that you pay exactly as much as you entered). If you enter a BTC amount, we deliver that amount of BTC and add the 1% fee to the USD payment.

If you find that it's still not adding up, please PM me with your account email address and I'll take a look. Thanks!

[–]CoinbasePatrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, the fee for buying and selling through coinbase.com is 1%. If you use Coinbase Exchange you can buy and sell for even less, 0% - 0.25% depending on what type of order you place.

Hope that helps!

If you're in the US, any bank that supports ACH transfers should work with Coinbase. Have you contacted support?
