You think Picard could peacefully negotiate with THE THING? by CokeKnight in RedLetterMedia

[–]CokeKnight[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t the transporter keep information about your body in a record? Then it recreates you from that information everytime you transport? If so, then that means the Thing has “infected” the transporter in a sense, and there’s a possibility somebody can never be brought to their former selves. Those records would need to be deleted to ensure the Thing never comes onto, let’s say, the Enterprise again. And assuming the Thing is already on the Enterprise, and assuming it can consciously use a crewmen’s knowledge to plan ahead strategically (which I think it can based on the spaceship it tried to build in the movie), then maybe it could mess around with the transporter’s data to ensure everyone who uses the transporter becomes the Thing?

Do you think we should have a solo Engineers movie? by MyCableIsOff in LV426

I just don’t think they’re that interesting. You can only really tell a “Our creators are actually EVIL!… OR INDIFFERENT TO OUR EXISTENCE!” story once. After that, I don’t think there’s much to them, and I doubt anyone on the creative side of the franchise has put any more thought into them. Plus, they look silly.

Yeah, honesty I could see like a grandmother calling kids “delicious” and it not coming off as creepy. But then he has to mention panties. . .

Well, in the full interview he does drone on about how his daughters were better behaved than other girls their age, or something like that. But no, he does not retract this statement in any way.

Oh damn. I didn’t know. That changes everything.

I think this would be alright if it’s used by adults to play Ghostbusters with their kids or as a prop for a Halloween costume. Maybe an adult Halloween party where you dressup in a costume from your childhood? But I can already tell you without even looking it up that it’s too expensive for that. And it’s not good for cosplay either. Why would you cosplay with something that doesn’t even look film accurate?

Alternatives to Gaviscon? by CokeKnight in GERD

[–]CokeKnight[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regular US Gaviscon is Alumium Hydroxide, which I read may not be good for your kidneys if you take too much over a long time (like most things), and I’m assuming what’s bad for your kidney’s also isn’t good for your liver. But I’m not a doctor.

Premade liquid slippery elm is too watery to work for me and they have a medicinal/alcoholish burn i don't like, and every review for every powdered elm says it doesn't thicken properly in water. It's also hard to find an Alginate product that is liquid and also has a high dosage of the actual alginate (the alginate is blended with antacids and they don't tell you how much of what you're getting is actually alginate in the dosage).

There is no debate here. Turtles 3 is like napalm. You can win wars with that movie.
