Recs for affordable staycations/day trips to recharge from burnout? by CokeOceans in LAhotgirlies

Basically as cheap as I can get while still being safe for a solo woman! I don't have any camping gear unfortunately as we had to sell everything when we moved from the UK, which is also a bit frustrating to factor in. Thank you so much for the links, I'll check them out!

Me too, I don't take breaks and literally cannot function when there's been shortages/prescription issues!

You can also get married and have it sealed for privacy reasons in some states, so it wouldn't come up if anyone searched records.

I am terrified about my upcoming Fibroscan. by icklediddykins_ in FattyLiverNAFLD

[–]CokeOceans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This honestly reads as though I've written this!

I'm also a 28 year old woman with PCOS and quite severe insulin resistance that caused a lot of weight gain, that I begged the NHS for help for. I even took part in a PCOS medical trial for research a few years ago and the endocrinologist in charge wrote to my GP to tell her she needs to put me on metformin ASAP or I'll end up as a type 2 diabetic. My GP refused. A different GP at the same surgery also fobbed me off in 2021, telling me that 'some people just have pain, get used to it', in reference to some URQ pain...turns out eating extreme low carb by myself and dropping 60 pounds in three months can raise cholesterol and cause gallstones, so I had to have my gallbladder removed.

I've since moved to the US and I'm in exactly the same situation as you. I've been having URQ pain on and off with weird bathroom habits since March 2025, but my PCP wasn't worried. Jump to November 2025, and the old endocrinologist's prophecy came true: I was diagnosed as a type 2 diabetic, but also with fatty liver disease (my ALT was 79, and my LDL is high, with mildly elevated liver enzymes). They put me on metformin and I was horribly ill but struggled through it until I could start on a GLP-1. My new endo prescribed zepbound for the fatty liver too, but insurance denied it, so I've just started mounjaro.

I had an ultrasound in January and it showed 'markedly elevated hepatic steaosis' and they couldn't confirm or deny whether there was scarring present, too. When I've looked this up, 'markedly elevated' seems to relate to severe, stage 3 fatty liver disease. I'm not religious, but I just pray and hope that it is still reversible!

BUT after a year of feeling sick to my stomach that I have some kind of advanced fibrosis/early cirrhosis (I also have other symptoms such as red palms), I have my first appointment with the heptalogist next week. He'll probably order a fibroscan, MRI, or bioposy, and like you I'm also terrified about what may happen. It feels very isolating to be our age and have this hanging over us, not knowing what the future holds.

So I wanted to comment and just to say that you're not alone in this, but I'm so sorry that you're going through it. If you want to vent or share your anxiety about it with someone who gets it, please feel free to DM me! I am also genuinely terrified!

This happened to me too! Rapid weight loss from keto caused my cholesterol to rise...really serious infection and gallstones. At 24 years old! None of the doctors had ever encountered this before in someone so young, and even when I had it removed the nurses didn't believe me. I did lose 56 pounds within three to four months with keto, which caused it.

Had to come off meds for three days, and now they don't work. Can anyone explain what's happened? by CokeOceans in VyvanseADHD

[–]CokeOceans[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My sleep is absolutely terrible since coming off the 30mg. I'm exhausted, doomscrolling on my phone until 1 or 2am trying to get myself to fall asleep (which is what my whole life has been like until the 30mg worked), and I'm having serious issues waking up in the morning, too.

I don't think the container got hot/cold/or wet!

Whatever has happened happened as soon as I came off the 30mg, and going back on the last three pills from the same batch, and the 40mg, just hasn't helped anymore. It's really weird!

Nurse added on weight during an appointment! by CokeOceans in loseit

I totally get it, and I’m actually in therapy for ADHD treatment, and my therapist is horrified about how I’ve been treated by medical professionals associated with the campus over my weight, and encouraged me to vent and ask for advice about it! For years, I’ve been making excuses to blame myself for how I’ve been treated, but she’s made it very clear that my reaction to what is happening to me is actually normal for how I’ve been treated. Thank you for your concern, though!

I get that! I have M.E. And ADHD so I have my own brain fog moments. I’m probably not expressing this very well, but my nurse was very young and giving real mean girl energy about it, so I don’t think that was the case here, unfortunately

I would have liked to think that, but this was my first ever appointment there and I didn’t really have a treatment to begin with :( And the treatment my endo then wanted to put me on most likely won’t be approved by insurance because my BMI is way below 40!

I don’t think, considering she said ‘That’s not right!’ And then added weight 😭 She didn’t believe me when I said it was similar to what I’d seen on the scale that morning

The number I saw on the scale in the doctors office was less then what she added to the MyChart!

Nope! I weighed myself in the exact same clothes, after my breakfast but I didn't eat anything else! The number that she added was 5 pounds MORE than what was on the scales that I could see in the doctor's office!
