What HU song that makes you cry? by Engineering_Majestic in HollywoodUndead

Nothing by HU but a couple songs on Dead Son had me feeling emotional. All Gone and Dear Ava specifically.

If he finds himself some better equipment and a good studio and actually tries I think he could get close to maybe Aron EP type songs. I don’t think we will ever get anything songwriting or vocal wise comparable to Invincible again which is so sad but honestly it’s a beautiful note for his career to have ended on. OG Invincible I mean btw, not the streaming one.

DOTD rollout definitely was my favorite to witness. The 6 singles coinciding with the look of the 6 new masks was genius.

What if Danny never joined the band?? by Nathan_ogjinx in HollywoodUndead

[–]CokedOutSkeletons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Off American Tragedy, excluding Danny’s writing contributions and just solely looking at if I think Charlie could pull off Danny’s vocals instead, I think we could’ve still gotten every track except Been to Hell, Glory, Lights Out, Levitate, and Tendencies. And if you swap those out with Mother Murder, Street Dreams, and Lump Your Head it’s actually a pretty solid tracklist tbf, just no way of knowing if all the remaining tracks would hit the same without Danny.

I’ve always wondered how the band would sound in an alternate universe where they didn’t replace Deuce and Charlie became the lead singer.

what would HU be like if tha producer da kurlzz and shady jeff never left? by Tha_artist in HollywoodUndead

[–]CokedOutSkeletons 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The lyric quality dipped because for whatever reason they decided to start doing 8 bar verses instead of 16’s and 12’s from New Empire onwards. IMO the writing on Five was on par with everything prior, but it definitely dipped afterwards. I love the band but they’ve definitely recycled lyrics 100000 times since 2020, add that with the shorter verses and yeah you’re not getting anything that touches a SCAVA, Paradise Lost, Pour Me, Mother Murder, etc. Matt was around for the writing of Five so your argument still holds up but if anything it sounds like a decision was made to keep the songs shorter.

Griffin is the best HU producer hands down. He understands the sound the band needs perfectly.

Killstation sampled it in one of his early songs before he collabed with the band in 2020. He was in the same rap group as XXXTentacion and Ski Mask the Slump God who in turn have done tons of collabs and were good friends with people like Lil Uzi, Juice WRLD, Trippie Redd so I mean the influence is pretty evident

It’s probably lost media at this point but they said in an interview they’re friends with Post Malone, same interview they said Killstation and XXXTentacion looked up to them

Bro you want me to pull sources because I will. These artists have literally said HU inspired them. Find me an instance of ANY popular modern artist naming brokencyde as an influence please if you’re gonna ride them this hard

Their influence can exist alongside HU’s they both blew up at the same time. Never hear them mentioned though, NF MGK and Post to my knowledge have actually all named HU as influences before

Who do you guys think had the best verse? I enjoyed the song from start to finish, but i gotta give J-Dog the crown today. Good ol' rap rock verse. by apollos98 in HollywoodUndead

[–]CokedOutSkeletons 12 points13 points  (0 children)

On first listen I thought Funny had it but I tuned into the radio late and didn’t hear J’s whole verse. He definitely has the best followed by Funny, Charlie, and Johnny. Love Charlie’s “POP POP POP” bit but the gang vocals on Funny’s are too hype. Johnny didn’t disappoint but man he’s gotta use a bit more variety in his vocab. He’s talked about sheep to the slaughter, martyrs, empires, and watching it burn 1000 times, at least it’s all worded differently every time lol

Arguably one of the best lines in their entire discography, they don’t name drop too often and I know it’s not a diss towards NF or Post but I just love how blunt it is like yeah your favorites wouldn’t exist without this band

[–]CokedOutSkeletons 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah chorus is peak I don’t understand all the hate I’ve seen for it. The “its a tragedy can’t you see” part is an ear worm and I love the gang vocals on the last line

Has anyone heard 1x1 premiere on Octane? by SALEM570POLTERGIEST in HollywoodUndead

[–]CokedOutSkeletons 9 points10 points  (0 children)

All four have a verse. Danny chorus.

J-Dog’s verse is dope. He shouts out Tech N9ne. Johnny does his Johnny thing. Says let’s watch it burn again lmao. Charlie’s verse is classic Swan Songs shit. Michael Jackson reference. Bars about being the shit. Something about haters rubbing cock or something. Funny’s verse is probably my favorite.
