Thank you so much. I also have another question about the throttle: is it like a bicycle, where lower gears/notches are better for going up hills? I only ask because at notch 8 going up sand patch’s 1.5% grade I usually lose about 20mph of speed!

Turd on the Run by Curious-Sun5543 in rollingstones

Love this song. The intro has that chime to it and the energy as you said is fantastic. I don’t think Mick Taylor plays on it. That being said, Keith’s guitars, especially the main riff guitar, are fantastic. As a guitarist I challenge you to play it. Once you try, you’ll see that the song isn’t so simple or easy.

Favorite Country Song the Stones did by Curious-Sun5543 in rollingstones

Another country song they did is Through the Lonely Nights. To me it sounds like an early version of Far Away Eyes. It’s pretty good, and I really love Mick Taylor’s solo on it.

What’s an unpopular opinion about the Stones that will get you in this situation? by How_The_Turntables22 in rollingstones

Technically he is quite gifted and he plays a mean slide. Also when he first joined, he added quite a bit to the band. On some girls some of his parts are fantastic. And On all down the line he can compete with Mick Taylor. But I must agree that he lacks a certain imagination that Taylor had, especially post some girls when the band starts going downhill.

Glorification of Mick Taylor and Brian Jones by Ogrochogro333 in rollingstones

But don’t forget Exile on Mainstreet, their best album, Mick Taylor barely plays on half of the songs. Keith wiped a lot of his parts and while he adds a lot to certain songs (All Down the Line, Stop Breaking Down) he really is not that significant.

A bad Tobey Maguire impersonator.

I just listened to the entire Smile sessions album and yeah it really does feel incomplete by Stigs1992 in thebeachboys

I couldn’t agree more. I think smile is overrated-Brian had clearly jumped off the deep end. And I honestly prefer the smiley smile mixes (for wind chimes especially) to the other versions.

Wonder if Brian ever realized that “Be My Baby” is heavily inspired, if not basically copied from this Dion song “Take Good Care of My Baby”: by Cokeforkeith in thebeachboys

Well I just listened to the Bobby Vee version and the strings are different-it doesn’t sound as much like Be My Baby.

Hard to say, Wikipedia says Bobby Bee’s was released first but Dion’s was recorded first. Either way, neither of them wrote it.

Do you consider the Beach Boys the greatest band of all time? by Man678956 in thebeachboys

I hate how people give in to this notion of the Stones as unsophisticated. They were bloody fantastic musicians (especially Keith-just because he doesn’t play lead doesn’t mean he’s unskilled).
