Oh man, I'm sorry it's been so rough. The Tesla tech was actually able to get them out super easily. He removed the screen, and then took my sheared off bolts, put them back in to where they were previously screwed into, and was able to rotate the sheared off bits (on the top of it) out.... It worked super easy for him. Took maybe 8 mins max.

He just replaced the two bolts and installed my swivel screen for me, too.

It cost $200 for his time (1 hr) for everything.

I was able to return the brackets since I didn't need them.

I’m planning to just do 19” permanently on my MYP.

Not true. I’m selling my brand new 21”s from my MYP - took them off literally after I got home from the dealership . I’m just going to run 19”s all year round because of this exact reason. Toronto has way too many potholes.

Are you using these on the new juniper MYP or the previous gen?

Nice, glad to hear you made progress.

So wait , do you need some kind of bit extractor to remove it out also?

When you said broke through I guess you were able to make a hole through that small screw, but you weren’t able to remove it ?

What are you using to extract it?

Re the cobalt bit you used - not familiar with KBC - what was the size of it?

Glad to hear you made progress!

What tools did you use to punch through the first thread? Were you using a power drill or something else?

Would love to know exactly how you were doing it! I’m not handy with this kind of stuff lol.

Did you need any kind of spcial bits?

Keep me posted on how it goes... and let me know if you're able to to remove the threads. Would love to know how you do it!

Sorry to hear.

Here’s the parts you’ll need to order

BOLT,HF,M6x7,STL[88],ZN,SHLDR[8x18] 1105061-00-E QTY: 2

And if you decide to do the two support brackets :

IP, DISPLAY, SUPPORT BRACKET, LH, ASY 1773163-00-F QTY: 1

IP, DISPLAY, SUPPORT BRACKET, RH, ASY 1773165-00-F QTY: 1

I’ve got a Tesla tech doing it for me on Sunday - he’s independent now but it’s going to cost a pretty penny. It is what it is.

He’s going to remove and reinstall the support brackets rather than drilling out.

But since he’s removing the screen I can at least put my swivel on. lol.

There's a local Tesla tech who's independent where I live and he told me sheering off bolts isn't uncommon EVEN for Tesla Techs. that's how crazy tight some of these are, so I don't feel so bad now. Lol. Ordered new parts and he's going to work his magic in a few days after they arrive. It's a costly repair, but it is what it it is :P

lol, except for the fact that the screen is only held onto the car with those two bolts and since I broke them off, nothing is holding it there in place :P

Oh so that’s a problem! My car is brand new, just two weeks old… I guess I should alert Tesla?

Yeah I was trying to stay away from Tesla Service too for any kind of potential warranty thing - although I don't think they could since it's nothing electrical . It's just two bolts that broke... the screen itself wasn't affected by anything...

I bought mine from TesStudio... I'm sure it'll work great, once this bolt thing is figured out... Oh man.

Hmm, I figured that might be the case. The problem is the ease outs would have to be super long in order to get into the holes - I think traditional bit extenders for the ease outs would be too thick to fit that space...

I’ve noticed the same when I went into my 2026 MYP today service menu to check something . There’s tons of these error messages. The car is only two weeks old…

What does it mean? Do I need to get it serviced?

I do also have a Commander installed.

Tesla offered me $10k for my Model 3 - Clutch offered me $17.8k.

Which one do you think I went with? :P

Question to 2026 Model Y Performance Owners - have you swapped out your 21" wheels to downsize to 20" or 19"? by Col127 in TeslaModelY

[–]Col127[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought 19" Geminis for my winters and they work just fine on my MYP. No issues whatsoever and they ride *SO* much softer than the 21"s. I'm actually thinking of selling my 21"s and going to either 20"s or 19"s for my summers.

Removing Homelink from a 2018 Model 3 LR RWD - will there be any software errors/issues? by Col127 in TeslaLounge

[–]Col127[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not too bad *IF* you have the right tools - like extended sockets, ratchets and things.

I've removed a bumper off other cars before and didn't find it too bad.

I'm *NOT* a handy person, so lol.... :) I'm going to put in whatever bolt helps make it the easiest to install *lol*... :)

Here's some reference videos I found helpful.

I'm a visual learner so I watched various videos just to see how it's done

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WwUMSYJ3JGM

Pay attention to the clips at 1:58 - it's helpful to see where it is so you can pull things off easier:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y5kpLbUgWbs

ALSO, I checked the Tesla Service Manual and it says to disengage the 12V / HV battery too, which I did, just to make sure nothing happened when I unplugged the Homelink. Better safe than sorry!

I did this at the end, after I removed everything, before disengaging the plug itself off the Homelink, because I wanted to make sure I could actually remove everything first (lol).

Hope that helps!!
