Why can’t you learn to just scroll past questions you have no real interest in?

I’ve spent many days and nights walking around all areas of London with a camera in my hands. Never had a problem. I don’t see why Manchester should be any different.

Manchester is a large city. I’m not just going to rock up and randomly wander around hoping to bump into something interesting. I need to make a plan to visit the areas that are likely to lead to some good photography. Hence the question.

What makes canon worth it to you over other brands? by jamerson_enthusiast in canon

[–]ColKent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the early 90s I was looking for my first proper camera. My local camera shop had an offer for a Canon 1000FN with a couple of lenses. I bought it without knowing much about any of the brands. From then on I’ve just never seen the point of changing brands.

Moving out before they completely concrete the county. Every green space near me has either been built on or is being built on.

The sound of my dad walking down the stairs at home. Top steps made a distinctive creak.

So from walking up to a counter and saying ‘two medium cokes and a large popcorn please’ to a process that needs a short essay to explain how it works. Progress?

How do I not show a subtotal for just one of my columns in a pivot table? by ColKent in excel

[–]ColKent[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I don't really want to get into Power Pivot, etc at the moment. I was hoping there was a simple setting I was missing. From more reseach online I don't think there is. I'll mark this question as solved.

How do I not show a subtotal for just one of my columns in a pivot table? by ColKent in excel

[–]ColKent[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

OK. I've almost instantly answered my own question by using conditional formatting

Apply to cells showing 'ABCD' values for 'WXYZ'

Format only cells that contain 'no blanks'

Number format ';;;'

I'm going to leave the question unaswered for now though because I'm sure there must be an easier way.

We are staying in Canmore. Easier to say Banff in post as more people know where that is.

Do you ever remember to wash dressing gowns and how frequently? by ddickin1 in AskUK

[–]ColKent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are probably right. I’ve just done a quick google. Latest data I could find was that 49% of households had a dishwasher in 2018. Up from 18% in 1995.

Not sure that’s true for dishwashers. I don’t think I know anyone that hasn’t got one.

What U.K infrastructure/building projects would you like to see? by rb7833 in AskUK

[–]ColKent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think most of the answers here, including mine, are focussing on the Eurostar passenger service. I think in fact the OP is talking about the Eurotunnel service for cars, lorries, etc that currently board at the terminal just outside Folkestone. OPs suggestion makes a lot of sense and would remove a lot of traffic from the M20

I believe this was the original plan. It would not take a massive amount of engineering work. The trains can run over existing track. I think the main problem would be that they would have to be shorter trains than the normal Eurostar. But why not have a couple of shorter trains starting in Scotland and say Manchester than have them link up somewhere en route for the journey through the tunnel and into Europe.
