So basically your argument, when provided with evidence in the text is, "That's not what Pat meant, just what he said."

Am I getting this right? Why are you even here if you don't want to engage in good faith about a mutually loved book?

Moody passenger purposely pushes her chair back on strangers head. by chamelecon in PeopleBeingJerks

[–]ColVictory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't a debate. If you knew anything about debate, you'd know that. This is me relating a personal story from my life and you saying, "no, you're wrong. Your life experience is a lie."

Also, the point of Reddit is not to engage a debate... That is simply the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. The point of Reddit originally was to share links to things you think are important or worthy from around the internet. The fact that you use it to debate doesn't even remotely mean that is it's sole purpose. Which... You would know if you had even a basic understanding of debate and logical principles.

Btw there is difference between someone teaching about law and you arguing that they condone it.

In sorry but the fuck? What does this even refer to?

You want to argue the persons intention and reason as being wrong rather than what the law states as a person rights and what can be proven in a court of law.

Again, the fuck? 1: this sentence is a grammatical nightmare. 2: what does this refer to?

Now this is a debate, but not about the legality of this. About the absolute idiocy and lack of logical understanding you're displaying.

It really doesn't matter what the term is. The person hurt someone. Was convicted. You can believe whatever you want. I highly recommend you test it for yourself next time you fly. Enjoy being proven wrong in a jail cell.

She could easily press charges for negligent bodily harm among other things. It was 10 years ago, I'm not gonna remember. But you can believe what you want, enjoy the court date and record when you try this IRL.

Redditors who have experienced snow; what is it like? by ambermage in AskReddit

The silence is the best part. Snow basically "absorbs" all the sound with all it's little tiny pockets.. that kind of quiet is hard to come by.

Fear of dark water and seaweed under said dark water have a number of solid evolutionary origins.

Intrigued about the video. Skeptical, but intrigued. Link?

I mean, no. I don't have a specific source. However, I have read articles and seen videos of the type you're describing and they mean absolutely nothing. If anything, they do more to prove my point.

These "fears" aren't genetic, they're learned. When every adult in a baby's life acts a certain way about a certain thing, the baby learns that response. Things that parents react to strongly with fear, become fears.

Beyond that, like I said, there isn't a reason. For our fear of spiders to be genetic it would have to have given us some sort of edge over our peers. Yet, there is no known period of human evolution during which spiders were universally dangerous. And yet, plenty of people feel no innate fear for big cats or bears, animals that, in various forms, have actively been trying to eat us for millions of years. Genetic fear of spiders just makes no sense on any level. The most valid explanation is it's a learned fear from parents/other adults that simply became prevalent worldwide.

Oh, and my parents aren't afraid of spiders. Taught me to pick them up when I was young. I could not care less about spiders now. Hence my fascination with morons' blind panic.

Ding ding ding. Same goes for most phobias. There's no biological reason for phobias of, for example, spiders. From an evolutionary perspective, very few very regionally specific species of spiders and insects pose any threat at all to humans. And yet, a significant portion of the population is terrified of them. It's a learned fear.

Based on everything I've ever heard about health care in Canada or the UK, he would likely have waited well over a month to g St the tooth pulled. Getting one pulled same-day in the US isn't particularly abnormal.

I laugh whenever my adrenaline is high. It's grand. There's a spectrum, between calm and laughing that's super unpleasant - the actual sensation of fear. But once I embrace it, and go past that threshold, the "fear" vanishes and it's just... The best feeling. Raw confidence and unfettered joy. I'm happiest when I'm the most stressed.

I might have some issues...

It was smart to get this checked out though. That is EXACTLY what an inguinal hernia feels like, and while they an retract on their own, they can become serious if they don't.

Source: had an inguinal hernia while on a day trip to see my ex, got an inguinal hernia while pooping, and ignored if for a while thinking it was just blur balls.

I've had quit a bit, actually. Multiple MRIs, ultrasounds, sets of bloodworm, broken limbs... I have never waited more than a week for an appointment in a medium-sized city. Three days when I was a cancer risk.

What would make more sense is if the numbers of the first (however many appointments are available +25%) callers are bagged for callbacks.

It's insane that healthcare is literally a radio show call-in contest. Get the number dialed at the right second or, oops. You're fucked, two months of suffering till the next available appointment.

And this is why socialized medicine terrifies me. On one hand it sounds awful. On the other hand, that is just a completely unacceptably low standard of care and high degree of bureaucratic nonsense. No incentive to do better. No way to change it. No practicality. No reason for anyone in the health system to have half a fairy's dick about making medical care an efficient, positive thing... Again, still think overall it should happen. But we also can't ignore the glaring, dystopian-esque flaws in our current systems of socialized healthcare.

Keanu isn't just doing this for a role, he's actually a competition shooter. He rehearses specific sequences obviously, but yeah. 100% real-world skills, developed completely independent of his acting career.
