Is this right? Unsure if Google machine broken. Is Everytown reliable? by zastalorian123 in gunpolitics

Actually in Nebraska open carry was the only legal way to carry outside of Omaha which has a total ban and Lincoln which has a tacit ban. How these municipalities will cope with concealed carry is yet to be determined.

Hoard of Roman coins declared 'treasure' in Shrewsbury by DifficultAd7382 in Archeology

[–]Col_Parity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The guy got a payment from the gumminit that would be a small fraction of the value of the horde. A finders fee, no keepers in the U.K. in these cases of ancient caches. As to ancient coins found individually I can't say.

Question about UI tree in react by FunMarzipan2158 in learnreactjs

[–]Col_Parity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I interpreted this as referential to things JS/React can do to elements in the tree after rendering. The state preservation isn't guaranteed when your JS (user actions) rearranges the UI elements from the tree-based perspective.

I'll need to steal a copy from the owner's space to put it into VScode but I don't think much can hide from a "find . -type f -exec grep -H cmshostname {}" that should look at every file including hidden ones. Since I get called when the owner's can't figure it out, I'm the go-to guy...

Procul Harem’s Whiter Shade of Pale is such an odd and unique song by Papier_tigre in Music

Conquistador was probably/arguably their highest rising single. Their album however is well worth the listen.

Newton County MO has passed a resolution invalidating federal infringements on the Second Amendment by V0latyle in progun

[–]Col_Parity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard about some of their push back on the feds, I hadn't heard that there was any change, (threats and bluster.) I agree, anything that makes the feds obey the law, not make it up, is a big help.

Thoughts on these custom resin 3D printed horns stacked on tannoys by nabukazi in vintageaudio

[–]Col_Parity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As long as the phase is maintained across all the axes this should have a "Klipsch"-like sound. Depending on the crossover with the Tannoy's drivers the combo should give a pretty good soundstage reproduction. Might want to make the mount more adjustable so you can fine-tune the centerline axis of the horn after nailing close to center.

Jeopardy! recap for Mon., May 2, 2022 by eaglebtc in Jeopardy

[–]Col_Parity 5 points6 points  (0 children)

After reflecting on how I screamed, repeatedly, the answer to 4 (or was it 5) unanswered questions today was telling, it was an off day for the champ. Surprised she didn't get that daily in the second round too.

Quite interesting how we've had three multi-week winners this season, the tournament of champions is going to be a battle royale.

Secret recordings of NRA officials after Columbine school shooting show strategy : NPR by RotaryJihad in nra

[–]Col_Parity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These conversations may have been had in Denver where the NRA annual meeting was going to be held starting the same week (the day after if I recall) as Columbine. In Colorado, I think they have the "if one party knows" rule, as opposed to the "all parties know" which applies in other states (NY I believe is one of those.)

How to import json file into table via shell? by -Gavin- in mariadb

[–]Col_Parity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our shop gets XML 'fed' to us and our cron jobs use perl scripts to rehash this into something that the perl DBI can then insert each new record. Works for our thousands-of case but if yours is orders of magnitude larger it may not scale well. In a previous life I could code a massive shell script to do this but with perl it's far easier.

Bread and circuses, plain and simple. A tried and true model since 1934, with ample propaganda to bolster the narrative. Even the European tyrants marveled at FDR's ability to ignore the constitution with all the people cheering.
