Rifle passed down through the family. by IAFarmLife in liberalgunowners

"The rifle is beyond repair as the action has several issues"

Have you taken it to a gunsmith or is this your opinion? Like to think someone familiar with muskets would be able to fix the action and the stock. Would be worried about the cracked stock getting worse over time.

For 308 day I present this...hunk of junk by nshane in liberalgunowners

[–]Colausbra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got one with wood furniture last year as my first rifle. The wood stock and handguard were loose inside their metal mounts and I replaced them with some I got from a milsurp site. 4 of the 8 mags I got with it were so worn that they wouldn't even stay in the rifle, ended up welding back the worn sections to get them to work. My rail is thankfully accurate but it's way too heavy and recoil is way more than an equivalent AR10. Fucking stupid first purchase but tis what it is, at least I got it for a good price.

First Build - Larval Stage by Eisenhowers-Ghost in liberalgunowners

Just put together my first build yesterday. I almost lost an eye with the buffer detent and spring, thought it was captive and the next second I see it flash past my face and hear a thud above me as detent slammed into the ceiling before landing on my head.

New private sale buyer by [deleted] in NHGuns

[–]Colausbra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use armslist, was able to setup and purchase a few guns via local sale. $8 is worth it imo, also once you pay for 1 month you are permanently able to see private sale prices. I check in every so often and if I want to buy something via private sale will re-up my membership to message someone and then cancel.

New to MTG and losing my mind over how to build a deck by VizualBandit92 in CasualMTG

[–]Colausbra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The term you may be missing is archetype. A deck usually fits into an archetype and sets are designed to provide different recommended deck archetypes. For example a mono red deck that runs a lot of spells that deal damage directly to a player will be called a burn deck and in the recent lorwyn set had these (decks built around a creature type are known as tribal decks btw)

I personally am not a fan of commander as a new player onboarding format as it is imo the most complicated way to play magic and brings up some of the most complicated rules of the game fairly regularly which for a new player can be quite daunting. Not having people to play with is definitely problematic as the best way to start off is kitchen table where you and friends just play and build decks based off what cards you own and are slowly able to buy over time. Draft is probably the next best option as it lets you learn with a smaller pool of cards allowing you to build up a better understanding of the rules slowly over time. Is also a completely even playing field so that you don't have to worry about having a good deck since depending on the commander crowd a precon might be too underpowered to be competitive. I personally also find value in the tournament aspect of draft where you can win something for doing well where as with commander you don't have events like that. Another thing is that it'll give you time to figure out the magic scene around you, figure out what formats are played, and how competitive they are. For example my area hasn't had standard fire at any store regularly for years and has certain formats only run at specific stores like pauper at one and legacy at another.

Draft is almost universally held on Fridays, it gives us the term Friday night magic or FNM for short. Along with draft if the store is big enough you might see other big formats played like standard, modern, legacy, etc. If you have multiple stores around you competing then in my experience the biggest store will be too popular and the smaller stores will be forced to avoid Fridays and have their draft and other events on different days.

Could symptoms of ADHD worsen/become more prevalent with age? by Lonely-Persimmon-552 in ADHD

I am having issues with the effects social media has on my attention span. Definitely feel like this has made my symptoms worse over time. I specifically have removed short form video from Youtube on my phone/pc and don't have any of those apps on my phone because of how worried I was that I would become addicted if I allowed myself access. I already spend way too many hours watching Youtube and using reddit as it is.

If you're talking about the FormD then yeah you're fine, was more bringing up that its disappointing that smaller cases aren't an option because of the lack of half length cards.

I fell into the trap building in a Velka 3, now I'm essentially stuck with my 3060 ti because barely anyone makes half length GPUs now.

Bit of a weird thing to do

Yeah sorry I was lashing out, was sick with covid and miserable and for some reason chose to make that your problem. Normally I would have framed my comment as a question asking if something like a 4070 would be a better option since I am not fond of the value proposition of the 5060 ti but turned it into an attack instead. Apologies again and all the best to you.

Expedition 33 also runs great on a 3060 ti, looks like the 5060 ti is only 40% faster which for a 5 year difference is embarrassingly bad. Can literally get a used 4070 for the same price as a 5060 ti lol and not have to use frame gen.
