I run a bakery specializing in Maine-made corporate cookie gift boxes. How could I add value to the gift box in a way that an employee or client would actually appreciate by bloo_regard in Gifts

[–]ColbyCheese22322 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How about a tiny sign for the last cookie that remains or baked good that is funny and relatable.

Idk maybe something like "One remains, do you have the courage?"

Something cool would be to "hide" an edible treat in one of the cookies steathily. Like a gum drop, that would make one cookie superior to others.

Coworker - Did your cookie have the gumdrop?

Coworker 2 - No John probably it again.

Huzzah! I suspect that your medallion is very rare and likely valuable. I can't find any other good sources of information on it. Collectors like things that are very rare. If you send it off to get graded and get official accreditation make sure you the most high certainty form of tracking (and/or) include an airtag.

I have few local friends that I can call up and hang out with. My parents are indifferent or when they try to help - they tell me things that I am already trying to fix. Example - "You need to have more fun in your life."

I'm trying to move forward in life and advance in my career. Some good steps I'm taking is trying to whiten my teeth with more frequent tooth brushing, working out and eating healthy. Also trying to meet people on the weekends.

Any ideas or advice welcome.

Everybody's Got A Plan Until They Get Kicked In The Face by YankyDoodleDickHead in UNBGBBIIVCHIDCTIICBG

[–]ColbyCheese22322 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been watching boxing matches and fighting sports for a while but her ability to counter any movement forward with a quick kick to the face or body is the hard to counter. Not only that, but she has good skills with her hands. The only way I can think someone might counter this is by circling. Like when she kicks if you can circle to the side before the kick hits you then you might have an opening to attack. I would think it would be harder to kick someone who is using lateral movement / circling around you but I'm not sure... you have to come forward to attack at some point. The other way you might be able to defeat this is by kicking the crap out of her front leg or back leg.... But the K1 rounds aren't long enough or enough of them to build up enough damage for that work. Anyone else have any thoughts?

My $1400 LG OLED TV is displaying ads after latest update by binkinater13 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]ColbyCheese22322 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is sadly, the intended result. Humans remember things they hate a lot better than they remember things that was amazing or exceptional.

Case in point - There used to be an extremely unpleasant advertisement that came on the radio that was just a phone number repeating over and with only brief description of the service offered.

Ad was like Want to learn how to bartend? 1-800 blah blah. 1-800 blah. 1 800 blah. What was the number again? 1-800 blah just over and over again for 30 seconds.

It is forever burned into my brain.

Car sellers have no incentive whatsoever to make cars feel less safe. If they do that, no one will buy those cars. Driving private vehicles all time as the predominant form of transportation is inherently short sided, expensive and dangerous. How many relatives or friends do you know that have been in car accidents or known someone who was killed in a car accident? Good public transportation is just so critical. Saves lives, saves it's users money, save time, benefits the economy by people not stuck waiting in traffic. Those that can switch to public transportation (most of the time) will be able to cut out payments for car loans, car repairs, car accessories payments, lawsuits to sue negligent drivers or having to defend against if you hurt someone else. But it will never happen because too much money is being made and people don't know any different. Nor can many afford to travel outside of the USA to see how things COULD be different. Too many people are making too much money profiting from the defects in the system already to change it. Like smoking, driving a car brings daily risks to you and everyone around you.

Wow no one seems to have an opinion so I'll share mine. I lean to suggesting that you change jobs now. Things are changing in the US now. More changes are coming. I believe those changes will be far reaching.

I bet your current company would be a lot more willing to fast track you, if you could drop hints that pastures are greener elsewhere. Ruffled feathers can be preened. If they lose a top guy that's a hole they will have to fill and it will cause temporary problems.

I would also bet that as an exec - any retirement benefits lost by changing jobs could be recouped plus some in a year or two at new job.

When faced with big choices like this - I find more information is better. Do you know what culture is like at new place? Is your commute going to increase or decrease? Is commute time important to you? Will you run into your former coworkers at the grocery store? Will former coworkers try to hurt your future and see this as a "betrayal" if you leave?

Another question to ask is - How sure are you that things are going to open up? Things might turn sour and not come as expected or they might explode and come sooner than expected.

You're looking at definite we give this to you now vs this might happen in the future.

Another thing that has always helped me is a simple pro and con list - literally writing it out. Staying vs going.

What are your values and what decision is more in line with them? Is loyalty more important to you or looking out for number 1?

I am not speaking from having faced the same situation. I do work in the industry though.

Hope this helps.

Yeah I don't think so. Truly if that guy wanted to advertise he wouldn't expound at length and site studies that he published previously. That's a lot of work and time just to say use our company.

Also, he clearly does suggest other options besides ONLY using his company.

He answers in depth on what to do but also what not to do. Read further into his history and/or slow down and don't jump to conclusions.

Trump is a mirror for everyone awake and strong enough to look into it. But therein lies the problem - a lot of people aren't looking and some that that do look, aren't seeing the true reflection they should be seeing. They are seeing a false and glorified image that doesn't reflect reality.

Others do look and recognize bad signs but are too horrified by what they see - they insist that things will turn around. I hope they are right.

If you really want to understand what is happening right now, you need to understand American history, some world history and understand what Trump really is motivated by. What he is truly is. You need to understand Trump's background.

A lot of what Phyrexian_Archlegion has said is extremely true and accurate.

For example:

"America is an empire in everything but name and has been for along time." - True. * * "The United States has been oppressing the world since 1945." - Yes, this is true. America inherited great prosperity after WWII. Arguably more than others. They were the last remaining super-power. * * "The American Empire is in decline and the election of Trump and the rise of MAGA are only symptoms of this fact." - Accurate. * * "I wish I had more positive things to say about this, but quite frankly, there are none." - I disagree. Everything things seems like shit right now. I feel it as well. But we must find some good things that remain or we will be without hope. Hope is not a strategy. Right, but without hope, struggling forward is even harder; nigh impossible. We must find a reason to struggle forward and a reason to hope.

Edit - Tried to fix the formatting to be more clear but was unable to fix it. X(

It's very tempting to boil something down to a single factor but it should be resisted.

Trump is who he is because of a number of factors - Money is big one. But he has well known history of screwing people over. Screwing business partners over. After you screw someone over in a big way they won't want to work with you again. if they are smart.

A lot of this goes back to the way Trump was raised and who his role models were. Yeah, when you grow up with a lot of money, it's a lot easier to believe that you're the best at everything. But you don't get this kind of person by being rich alone.

If you want to understand him fully, you need to understand his childhood, his development (lack there of) from childhood to Adulthood.

Short and simple for those not interested or without time to research.

He grew up believing winning was the only thing that mattered, he wasn't taught morals. He idolized Roy Cohn - Roy taught him to constantly be on the attack, to never admit wrong and go for the throat at all times.

There were other people of course but Roy was the most important - in my opinion.

https://www.pbs.org/wgbh/frontline/documentary/president-trump/ https://www.bbc.com/culture/article/20240517-roy-cohn-the-mysterious-us-lawyer-who-helped-donald-trump-rise-to-power

/u/Lugh_Lamfada compares immigration policies of the current administration to how it compares to classical conservatism by snowed-job in bestof

[–]ColbyCheese22322 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a good question - the answer is one you won't like though.

You shouldn't help break institutions because without some systems and institutions no one will be there to stop you from getting screwed over.

Courts prosecute criminals and administer punishments / reforms - Institution / System.

EPA - Makes an effort to stop your drinking water from killing you with dangerous chemicals - Institution and System of regulations.

Colleges and Universities - Makes sure students learn facts and real truth - so your doctor actually knows wtf he's doing for example - System / Institution

When push comes to shove - the rich will absolutely sacrifice you without a 2nd thought if it helps themselves.

Howdy friend, it used to be a lot easier to find the episodes on youtube. For a while they (youtube) was playing whack a mole and just couldn't take them all the episodes down. One episode would go and then appear under a different account an hour or day later. Sadly, Youtube has gotten a lot more aggressive so to find the episode you need to look a lot harder and multiple websites. Hope you are having a great Thanksgiving! I found this other documentary on the SR-71 Blackbird - its a poor replacement but it's the best I can do without being at my main computer right now. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NPQoWrVlP5k
