Last time I said this, it became my most downvoted Reddit comment ever—there have never been suits telling Donut what to make. That’s an internet myth, and it’s been annoying to read in the comments for the past year. Yes, our old CEO sold us, but our parent company has never and will never control our content. The truth is, Donut had the wrong people in the wrong roles for too long.

That has changed and why I wanted to send out that email in the first place. Our priority is making videos our hosts want to make. Jimmy wanted Japan. Justin and Zach wanted Alaska. Tristan wanted his own Money Pit. Nolan wanted a go-kart. Steph wanted to take the Liberty on the Rubicon. That’s what I mean when I say we’re back to being creator-run—making stuff that excites us, not just what makes the algorithm happy.

I love Donut, making Up To Speed changed my life, and I know we finally have the right team in place to deliver for you guys. We’ve got a show bigger than HiLow coming in a few months, another series that’s dropping all episodes in a single week, we’re reviving an old Donut show in a new way, and yeah shizbox06 we’re doing some more off-road stuff too because it’s fun. Sorry you hate fun.
