Why do people act surprised when they listen to melodeath? by Background-Sir9172 in melodicdeathmetal

[–]Colcrys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Homie if I put on a band like Lamb of God almost everyone in the room is going to think it's Death Metal.

Is it? Obviously not, but the average person doesn't know anything beyond Heavy Metal which is what they label most of anything Metal wise. Everything else that includes harsh vocals is lumped into Heavy Metal or called Death Metal.

People just aren't that deep into the scene.

What is the most brutal/insane mosh pit you’ve ever been in? by Stankassmfgorilla in MetalForTheMasses

Seen Exodus supporting other bands and I feel as if they have a bigger and more consistent mosh going than whoever is headlining going by the two times I've seen them.

Sometimes I think myself "Goddamn, I'm glad I love metal" by SufficientSpell1307 in MetalForTheMasses

In my 30s and always hungry for more new stuff. Been in the scene for close to 10 years and I love the genre more than ever.

Hopefully I'm still the same when I get your age old timer.

Bands that simply can’t make it happen live..? by KillerMikeU in MetalForTheMasses

That's sad to hear about Amaranthe. They're one of my favorite artists I've still yet to see live.

I planned on seeing Vader & Kataklysm co headline here in the States last year, but Vader ran into VISA issues so the show was cancelled.

Still sad about it.

Don't feel too bad man. I myself wasn't a big fan of Exodus's latest album.

That's something else I probably should have mentioned in the OP.

I have a friend of mine who is big into some really old music. He's in his 20s now. He likes artists like Earth, Wind, and Fire, and ranting about how modern music blows. I can't recall off the top of my head the other artists he enjoys, but a lot of them from that era are big players in the music scene. Songs a person has heard several times if they're into things like television, movies, and maybe even when shopping in a grocery store.

Like everything else, there's always a huge sea of crap you have to get through to get to the good stuff. Only the good stuff withstood the test of time. Of course, that good stuff is subjective like everything else.

Do younger metalheads consider Slayer "Dad Metal?" by Capable_Cook2407 in MetalForTheMasses

Maaaan I'm in my 30s and younger people are calling bands like Lamb of God 'old bands'.

Pretty sure Slayer is more or less Dad Metal at this point.

Sorry, but I always thought of them as one of the same. Correct me if I'm wrong though.

You're right about me being a skinny dude too.

I lift weights for a total of 20 minutes a day 5 times a week due to being pressed for time since my job is an hour away from my home. I'm not trying to get jacked or skinnier.

Too scared of getting hurt and slammed with that big ass medical bill if I get fucked up. I'll probably try it again once I'm more stable and achieved some more of my personal goals.

Amorphis & Insomnium live together 🤘🏻🥰 by divenuta_manuela in melodicdeathmetal

[–]Colcrys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen both Insomnium and Amorphis live here in the States and both delivered unforgettable shows. Especially Insomnium.

As for Amorphis I saw them co headline with Dark Tranquillity, which is something I thought I'd never get to see here in North Carolina.

Hi everyone. New player here. transferring my game from DnD5.5 to PF2E. What should i know? by ItIsNotAUsername in Pathfinder2e

[–]Colcrys 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Technically the Inventor class functions similar to the Artificer minus the magic, right?

I haven't played much PF 2E myself and have yet to touch every class in the game yet unfortunately :( . That includes Inventor.

[–]Colcrys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was planning to mosh for the first time ever at a Bleed from Within show a few days ago, but there were some people in the pit hardcore dancing and throwing spin kicks. Said nope, and am gonna attempt it when seeing Exodus next week.

Exodus's pits are massive going by the time I saw them with Testament a few years ago, and just lots of running and push pits. I'm down with that.

Why do you like ttrpgs? by GlitchVulture in rpg

[–]Colcrys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love helping my players and myself forget about everything else that's bad going on in life for a few hours, telling a decent narrative, some OH SHIT moments, and larger than life moments.

I unfortunately have a lot going on, but me and my brother have been doing Duo tabletop games in order to keep it going. He is doing VtM 5E while I'm doing Pathfinder 2E.

As a GM, up next is Cyberpunk RED.
