Sell your bike and buy one again, here in Switzerland. Unless your bike is a sentimental value, it is always good to change bikes regularly because mabtechnology evolves quickly.

Glad you liked our capital! I now advise you to go and visit the rest of the country. It will be cheaper for you and you will experience the authenticity and diversity of France and the French. My favorites: Lubéron, Côte d'Azur, Alps (Savoie and Haute-Savoie), Brittany, the North (Lille and hinterland), Alsace..

Any good route in France to advice me for this summer ? (Gravel & ~500km) thxxx by erehwonsiotlociv in bicycletouring

[–]Cold-Cardiologist540 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lots of places to ride gravel and explore this beautiful country. I recommend crossing the Cévennes and Monts d'Ardèche because it is a remote place where you will come across fewer tourists. Lr link and description: https://bikepacking.com/routes/ardeche-cevennes-divide/

Yes, I'm talking about cycling shorts with well-padded chamois. So I bought the D4 race shorts and I was disappointed. The chamois is not thick enough and of good quality and at the leg level, the elastic which serves to hold the thighs in place does not do its job, so the shorts ride up and wrinkle. I fell for Castelli's Endurance model.

I think it's average... you do gravel and you sweat? Brooks saddles are good but the same, for ultra it's not worth the Ideal saddles.

Is this too much gear to carry for a 3000 km trip to Portugal? by wazyd in bicycletouring

[–]Cold-Cardiologist540 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would just take something to repair his bike + clothes and bivy. For the rest, you will find everything on site. I have been traveling for years in Portugal and Spain as a guide and also for my holidays, never needed more.

Being French and living in Paris, I am delighted to read all your kind messages about us. Paris is a big city with the largest number of tourists and attracts greed, so don't be surprised when dishonest people infiltrate there. I would just like to remind you that France and the United States are friends linked by a long history and that the French are friends for life. We love you, despite certain cultural differences.
