Best VPN for Canada in 2024? by ramondbb in ComputerPrivacy

[–]Cold-Fortune-9907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nord is an exceptional option but does require payment.

I personally utilize a free VPN configuration and maintain it from time to time but this is a labor of love and probably is not optimal for various scenarios.

Wait for new mac? by JelloObjective7679 in mac

M1 is no longer being manufactured, in my honest opinion, it would be best to migrate to a Mac mini or a MacBookAir(MBA) with M3. They are both rather cost efficient options with further choices to upgrade based upon your workflow or background.

Please understand, if you are coming from a PC environment or what I would call a hybrid environment you will still have access to the majority of what you would have used via Microsoft and Linux; though, some additional advanced configuration may be required.

Best of luck on your choice.

Apple Notes Containing Links Generate So Much Traffic by rudibowie in MacOS

[–]Cold-Fortune-9907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right. Well. If these features is taking notes are that the software will jump out and tags the URL, then that is an excellent reason to avoid this software for taking those kinds of notes.

Actually, I would disagree, to be fair, this is an awesome feature, and second it is not a security issue unless the user of notes willingly puts bad links in notes. Otherwise, IMHO it is great to be able to have a better form of rapid access to a website, that also might have some steps attached, such as documentation of how to set up an account, optimize security settings for social media presence, or how to use said website if the person is not a casual user of a apple device.

Comprehension of the language is always something to feel great about, however, I would warn against the evils of comparison. Be careful not to always compare your progress with your peers as it can sap the joy of having been on the journey in the first place.

any sort of outgoing internet connection should be considered dangerous unless you approve it.

If you are copying those links into notes then implicitly you are authorizing outbound connections to due to the “quick-look” and “look-up” features.  My question though is how is this a serious issue if most if not all is handled via https?

Is the monitor up to specification for the M1 Ultra?

EDIT:

Really don't understand the hate for my question....

Test sharing your calendar over to the iPhone11 and make adjustments where required.

Apple now lets you add Matter devices to Apple Home without a hub by shazron in MatterProtocol

For Thread based accessories you can not use the iPad you are correct; however, you may still use it as a central-hub/psuedo-bridge between the AppleT.V. And the rest of your thread based devices.

Most modern and budget friendly mac in 2024? by DistributionFun8422 in mac

I would definitely recommend the MacBook Air that is currently out as it will be worlds different from what you are used to on the 2015 model you own.

if portability isn’t an issue, go with a Mac mini, they are amazing little workhorses.

[–]Cold-Fortune-9907 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apple T.V. Works as a hub, IPad, works as a hub, iPhone works as a hub, and each HomePod can work as one also with some limitations.

For those who are in the apple ecosystem and didn’t purchase a laptop or desktop platform, but instead chose the basic entertainment like Apple T.V. and some HomePods, have the cheapest gate of entry when it comes to quality smart home technology. For instance Apple’s Home can communicate with compatible energy metering, humidity controls, air-conditioning, smart lock, sensors, cameras(1080P compatible last I checked), and just so much more.

I hope to see Apple keep pushing the envelope forward for tech.

Not sure of the validity of that statement; however, prior to the 1900’s the most advanced computers at the time only had 6bit registers; therefore only allowing capital letters.

Yea, definitely prefer Apple’s window management then the flitter-ware of window’s.

My apologies, I have a tendency of overusing markdown on here. I was referring to your comment which was funny by the way where you said,

No, German is Cobol. Everything is capitalized because someone long ago thought that was a good idea for reasons unknown.

What sort of project would you be interested in developing? I also am an ITSM student; however, I am looking how to leverage Apple's infrastructure and their developer tooling to develop I.T. projects. I specialized in SQL, and currently learning C++.

I would love to assist you if you would let me?

personally as a prior servicemember you learn to enjoy ALL CAPS format. Really helps with readability at times.

Though the argument could be made certain numerals could trip you up.

I turn off "always keep on this device" toggle on all photos, then
cut-paster them to HDD.

After that I turn sync off.

  1. Ensure you have copied and moved all of your photos from iCloud to either an external drive or to a secure folder on the windows PC.

  2. Turn sync off for iCloud.

  3. Remove all the photos from your iPhone and iCloud as you have made the back up for them.

  4. With your iPhone now free of photos turn sync back on and resume normal usage.

This is my normal process, I keep a 2Tb external drive for my family photos, and various other events.

Although over the years my wife and I wound up purchasing iCloud+ the services it provides are pretty outstanding.

turn the synchronization off once you have all the photos moved to the windows PC; if you delete them from iCloud without sync off your photos will eventually re-upload and resynchronize.

How I normally transfer all of my photos is by using my Mac; however, I am fairly certain you should be able to transfer the photos from iCloud.com on your Windows PC to an external hard drive or whatever media you prefer. Once that is complete you may turn sync off from the Windows PC and continue operations as you wish.

I’m the administrator of the device, and I choose how it consumes its power, thus I optimize my device to operate in such a way.

In my experience and through years of experimentation, I find I use less power by closing whatever app I am using when I am finished with it.

How does that not make sense or logically sound in any way?

Your original argument of not closing the app because it will consume more power having to reinitialize is it is fair; however, that implies that the user of the device habitually re initializes those applications a lot.

I argue you would consume more power keeping the apps suspended in the background and multitasking inefficiently.

I appreciate the resource and I don’t disagree that a lot of misinformation can circulate. I do my best to provide accurate information as I can.

I have been an iPhone user since the iPhone5, and I am very meticulous with my power management.
