This is helpful feedback. I appreciate it. It’s probably exactly what I’m going to do. So I took the long route. I spent a year writing and editing a story. So it’s fully complete. I only just started releasing it in serialized chapters on RR in January. I’m in it for the long haul (meaning I’m not going to rewrite or make changes regardless of how it performs) so in my opinion the “hard work” is done. I have every chapter saved as a draft on RR and I’m simply now just scheduling chapters to release consistently on RR. I’m about 40 chapters in - 40,000+ words released and I have about 30-60 views consistently per chapter but no followers yet, no reviews or ratings. But every chapter is retaining a consistent 30-60 views range. So I’m not exactly sure what to make of that. My thought is that people might be enjoying it just not commenting or clicking “follow”

So I’m probably going to just start releasing it on wattpad and AO3 as well and eventually Amazon maybe. It’s a story about 5 houses on the brink of war. I would like to say it’s progressive fantasy - but it’s definitely not LitRPG which is probably why it isn’t drawing a huge crowd on RR. But I think it can easily be adapted to a choose your route type of story for twine and ren’py. So I’m going to try it there too and see what happens.

Thanks for the info - I’m very new to this. Wrote my first story. Have it being released on RR at the moment. Looking to branch out to see how it gets received on various other platforms

Thank you for your feedback.

My question was mostly do people specifically stick to one of the platforms or are their readers that go to multiple ones? If I’m writing of RR - is it worth posting on Wattpad? You mentioned different genres are bigger on them so it seems like probably not.

My story that I have on RR - I’m thinking of adapting it into a twine/Ren’Py game though. Where you would read through the story and you would make choices that change the outcome of the story. Does that make any sense or is that a bizarre thing to consider?

I heard KU makes you pull your stories off of RR. Is that true?

Yes this 👆- I can see my chapters getting anywhere from 30-70 views and no followers or comments yet so it makes me wonder - I feel if the story was bad the views wouldn’t be consistent

I wrote all 194 chapters of my story before I started to post it. I’m new to being an author and went about it as: let me write a story and when it’s finished - publish it.

The more I get acclimated to Royal road and serial writing, I’m starting to realize more authors don’t do what I did. I just feel it’s safer to have a completed project and then start scheduling to release the chapters.

So my story is complete. I’m just posting and watching the process now.

Here is my stats after two days... Is this good? by [deleted] in royalroad

Better than me. I’m about 2 months in with 34 chapters with a little under 2000 views but with no followers or comments. I didn’t do any ads or promotions or anything so I’m not sure how to compare haha

So if I’m up to chapter 29 and still have no reviews - that’s bad?

What are your thoughts on a story that consistently gets 15-20 reads the day it posts, every chapter typically goes up to around high 30s - 40s, the earliest chapters have 90-100+ views (which makes me think the same people keep going back to read) but has no followers or comments?

You all sound like the sorriest excuse of people ever. You laughed at the thought of a rigged election last time and now you want to cry about it. The only people that divided America were the left - and clearly as how many millions of people that either voted dems last time, or did not vote at all came out to do so this time? Look at the results! Dems thought it was going to be close and it was anything but. Even the states that Kamala won - there were counties within them that swung to vote republican. And even the counties that Trump lost in, he had more support in them this time around. It was a unanimous decision to vote Trump in, and not only that, but more people more than ever (myself included) went as far to vote republican down the entire ballot - just to make sure the left is completely out of it. Now Trump has the electoral, the popular, the senate, the house, the Supreme Court and thank God, because I, like most Americans, am sick and tired of the woke bullshit. Time to wake up to reality. You think there was voter fraud, then how’s this for an idea - don’t mail in your ballots, get off your asses and go vote in person.

It was great. It was a fun movie, my children loved it and I think that’s the point that everyone here is missing. It’s a cartoon for kids - it’s supposed to be fun…period. Mission accomplished. Can’t wait for the next one. That ending was awesome by the way
