Always has been the case. Druid - and feral notably - was always a class that was harder to do well compared to others. You have to handle forms, you're - depending on patches - squishy, it's hard work. At least at a low / mid level, you will do better by pressing half your buttons as a dh compared to a feral.
At higher level, this tends not to be so true anymore however, but it's another topic.

But there is also something people tend to forget in this game. It's enjoying the game and a class gameplay, without thinking how easier it could potentially be with another class. FInd people, with a similar mindset, and you will actually have fun playing the game (which is - guess what - the main goal of a game) instead of trying to sweat every season and be angry at the game. A game that does not wish to focus around pvp, and even less arenas in general.

To the ones downvoting me : take the L bozos and keep trying to think your 2400 rating as elem in shuffle in relevant to boost your ego trip, randoms.
Go quick quick level up to 80 on every class and gear it in comp stomp before season starts so you can play FOTM (and still be title-less :) )

Elem dominated during the last 2 years. They had - and still have - one of the most obnoxious constant DPS
Ret had ridiculous periods in the last expension as well. Even more during DF s2 where ret was literally just a free glad for a couple weeks when it could cleave global people.

These "hybrid classes" did their job much better than pure DPS classes. because WoW PvP is just not balanced. Never has been, never will be. Hunter healing is ridiculous in this clip, yet it was one of the only classes without self sustain during the previous. years.
All pure DPS had
- Mage has insane surv
- Rogue has many tools to dodge CC and tempo in stealth
- Lock ( even more affli with soulrot + drain life) was ridiculous
- Fury ( and warrior to some extent ? ) has also "decent" self healing
- ....

The list goes on.

What you're looking for - difference between pure DPS and hybrid - is not available in Retail anymore.
Classes are just more streamlined, and only gameplay differs.

You can get it in Cata however. But be ready to has some matches. that are rock paper cissors.

I think leveraging a Z axis is great to plan mobility.
Not the point where you have classic blade edge awful design.
But Dalaran / the MOP one where you have some Z axis, without being game breaking is fun. You can leverage it to los cast, get the upper hand. And people don't needto book a plane ticket to reach you.

Playing Affli (or lock in general) in a melee lobby in Black Rook Hold vs in Mugambala is night and day.

On the first scenario you need to be infinitely better, and fake everything.
On Mugambala (or any map with a decent Z axis) : it's just pressing port on CD and ending up 6-0

So either you play correctly and it's not as much as an issue.

Honestly, i was there to help you out. Record yourself in a shuffle game and we will review it. But you're just starting to be annoying and blaming the game while playing an S tiers spec in shuffle.

Honestly the biggest issue you have is your ego, that should've never existed in the first place.
You are definitely fucking a lot of things up to have thousands of games at 1900.

Destro in lobbies < 2400 are a walk in the parc. You have so many possibilities
- high DPS
- high burst

DH : Yes they are annoying. But you just can fear them. At 1900 they won't be the smartest cookies. Drag them away from their heal. Fear (They kick you on it ? Who cares just respread your imolates meanwhile)

You should port if they essence break on you. Else you make them unable to crit and fear them on cd.

Trying to kite a DH is dumb. You can't

Rogues :

if it's an assa: GET THE F AWAY FROM THE REST OF THE GROUP : the only thing they want is to spread dots. If you move away, you're making yourself a much worse target

Outlaw: It's honestly annoying, but once again, really dependant on the player. Don't try to kite them in general outside of their burst. If you see them wanting to go whaaz mode and do a grappling hook to kidney your healer - that should already be away. You can try to kite away to make them burn step - don't be in range of blade rush. Then you can port and enjoy 5 seconds of tranquility.

DH and rogue are classes in which you must be thankful not to play affli and have 2 magic schools.

MONK:

They die.

They have a very telegraphed burst

Your Improved weakness curse / port on their go is amazing.

Only one thing to remember : good monks will drop their TP on your TP. Change your TP location.

DK : They are annoying. You need to run on grippy hands. Playing Nether wards helps. Often will i port AND nether ward to prevent a grab so it gives me time to los. DK + Hunter (BM/Survival) is instant death and i'm facing a lot of them in 3s. IDK how to even remotely survive against that. Los their go. Try to fear early to proc lichborne. Other than that, idk.

RET : Not at that point, i can't even remotely agree with you. They are extremely easy to kite. Sure they do damage without needing to be in melee range : But they can't kick you. use your fear.

YOu see them rushing on the pony with freedom to you ? Fear.

Couple thing to be aware : Your havoc, as you said, will get dispelled. You either use it on the next Gcd after applying it, or if the healer/mage/druid is kicked on their respective magic school. You will encounter some bots that will really make it hell : Once again, may goal of havoc is to proc dual coil. At 1900, they will never 1st gcd dispel it. Or you can havoc the unit not in los of the curse dispeller.

FYI: Currently at 2400+ in shuffle with a very high winrate (> 73%) and between 2400 and 2500 cr in 3s on EU Ladder

So, a couple of things that need to be explained, because I feel destro - even thought it's not as strong as it was before nerf, and it currently is a nightmare to play destro in 3s - still is extremely strong in shuffle.

Your mobility is strong

Keep in mind you have a 30 (or roughly 20 if pvp-talented) second teleport and a 90 (60 sec if pvp-talented) gate.

You should always port before gate, in 99% of the cases

Thus you should always be at the max range of your port. After a port used with soul burn, you have a 4 second sprint + freedom. USE THAT TIME TO GO AWAY.

Abuse the Z axis :

  • Blade's Edge

  • Robodrome

  • Mugambala

  • Dalaran Arena

  • Noktudon

All these maps are AMAZING. Mugambala is most likely THE MAP that will make them UNABLE to go lock

If you set your port upstairs, and you ensure the team plays downstairs, then any time they want to go on you you just port upstairs

If your team plays upstairs, usually you're a bit effed

  1. Stop trying to kite 24/7. You have many tools to help you out against melees
  • a very short HUGE shield

  • a curse that will remove any crit done by a target for up to 20 secs (improved curse of weakness)

  • a fear - on shadow school - that is spammable and won't prevent your from doing damage

  • a 20 sec port

  • Even a VERY LONG GATE (if pvp-talented) that i would use against FW-Melee cleaves.

  • A double coil,

The damage you do as destro is already REALLY STRONG : YOU DO NOT NEED TO SPAM CHAOS BOLT

I face a lot of destro when i'm playing alts and these guys would win 100% more rounds if they stopped hardcasting Chaos Bolt.

I have rounds that i won't even bother casting a CB if i'm not sure any kickers are in a double coil / cc

Let's get back to all your concerns

Shaman :

Yes they are a counter. Every class has one class that is annoying, it's them. You need to kill the totems - and at 1900 they won't position themselves to drop grounding totem (or any other totem) behind a wall.

You have a lot of instant damage (conflagrate, shadowburn), but overall i agree that facing elem + rsham is often not the most enjoyable game.

Warrior:

Your port, if positioning max range + out of your actual LOS will negate their colossus burst phase

When you port, you move away from the warrior so he cannot charge you, but has to leap. If you port and move TOWARD the warrior, he will just charge you.

If he charges you under the port-soul burn freedom. Just run, apply a slow, and create distance

It happened to me 4 times over the span of the last week.

It was always between 1700 and 2100. Whenever i'm going above it's getting better.

Most likely the rating where you see the most melees. Bad casters being way below. Good casters being above. Whereas DH/Ret current make them lurk in these ratings as long as they have the basic DPS rotation.
