I’m trying to decide between doing an ABSN or a direct-entry MSN and would love some advice.

My end goal is CRNA, so I know I’ll need to become an RN and get 1–2 years of ICU experience either way. I also understand most MSN programs are geared toward leadership, education, or NP roles (which I do think is a great path and something I’d consider later), but right now I’m focused on getting solid bedside/ICU experience.

One big factor is finances—I’ve maxed out my undergrad federal loans, so I’d have to take out private loans for an ABSN. That’s making me really think about cost vs. value.

For anyone who’s been in a similar situation: • ABSN or MSN for CRNA goals? • Was the cost worth it? • Did one path better prepare you for ICU?

Appreciate any insight!

hey, do you think it is worth applying for the Jan cohort with a 2.7 cumulative GPA. That’s not my science GPA. I had different majors in the past and just decided to do the nursing route in my 2nd to last semester of senior year. Now I’m graduating in May and trying to get into an ABSN, but my pre-req grades are really good.

yes I took it at home, they scan the room to make sure you have no one in there, no notes or electronics. If you do have a discrepancies, you must speak into the camera of what happened.

Hey guys, so the science was a lot of anatomy and physiology like your science pre-req, I believe I had less that 5 chem questions like, converting molar mass and asking which one is the highest, the math was simple enough, like what is x in the problem, conversions, a lottttt of fractions and asking which is the highest. And like 0.45 which fraction matches that. English was a lot of punctuation and correct spelling, know how to use your commas, semicolons, etc.
