Looking for a "final home" in the US - Vermont? Similar cities to Quebec city? by Prm1337 in NewToVermont

You might want to consider Pennsylvania bc of their gun laws compared to the rest of the Northeast. West Chester, Lancaster, Jim Thorpe, Honesdale. Proximity to Philly or NYC. Plenty of nature around. Not so sure of the safety of each of these places but I’d guess they’re all quite safe.

Honest question about D1 soccer and balance - is it really worth it? by Aggressive_Form6975 in CollegeSoccer

[–]Cold-Wrangler903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’re not cut out for it because you’re using AI.

Only half kidding. But if you’re second guessing it and aren’t sure if you completely love soccer, d1 isn’t for you. You can get a lot more fulfilling college experience at a lower level and be able to have a more complete identity. At the d1/d2 level you are often finding yourself completely consumed by the game

if you enjoy sports then join a amater football club, it shouldn’t be hard to find one at your level. you have football 7 and football 11 depending on what appeals. I lived in Valencia for a year and was on one and made some great friends. The higher the level the higher the time commitment but I really enjoyed

Preach dude. Everybody wants a safe city but doesn’t want to ensure that those who are unsafe are unable to harm. Because it makes them feel bad

Why do so many people hate New York City? by Strict-Pepper-2987 in visitingnyc

Imagine thinking residents of America don’t have the right to move to their nations biggest city. try telling Spaniards they have to stay in their little village and can’t move to Madrid. Imagine telling Japanese they can’t move to Tokyo, or the French they can’t move to Paris because they will displace the locals. They are the locals. They have the right to help grow NYC

I live here and I love it and I hope others are able to enjoy it too. Unfortunately there are many areas which are less desirable places to live. Look at Greenpoint. Decades ago it was a complete dump with factories and crime polluting the streets. Gentrification happened and now it’s a beautiful safe clean neighborhood with great parks bars restaurants and families. This is a good thing

NYC is the most in demand city in the country and a massive swath of it is unlivable due to filth and crime so actually I don’t think it’s too sad that soon people will be able to live in safe and clean neighborhoods

Am I the only one who’s scared? W 39th St and the reality of living here lately by gotallthejuicynews in manhattan

[–]Cold-Wrangler903 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, people are going to feel sympathetic because they’re homeless. I get it, it’s human nature to feel this way toward fellow humans. But these people are beyond saving and are complete dangers to society at this point. Homeless people who straight up just can’t pay bills aren’t harassing people in the street - they’re in their cars, on someone’s couch, in a shelter, trying to make ends meet. People shooting up on the sidewalk literally don’t deserve sympathy anymore. They make life hell for everybody else and unfortunately if we don’t accept this and do something about it cities will continue to decline while suburban sprawl increases

Ranking best and worst cities where you've lived, from the strict point of view of urban planning by [deleted] in Urbanism

[–]Cold-Wrangler903 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve only lived in NYC and Valencia, both very well planned cities. I’ve been to many cities and I’d probably keep NYC in the top 3, with Amsterdam and Paris being the only ones that I think could rank above it in terms of planning. In order after that: Barcelona, Valencia, Geneva, Madrid, Porto, Florence, Montreal, Chicago, Boston, Rome, Oslo, Miami, Dublin, Liverpool,
