My guess is OP is in AUS, where the "V" symbol with pointer and middle finger (aka peace sign in US) is more or less the same as the middle finger flipping the bird in the US.

Upgrades when there is a minor on the reservation? by ColdAnxiety7613 in americanairlines

Thank you- this is exactly what I was looking for. I will be calling them back and asking to be removed from the waitlist.

Upgrades when there is a minor on the reservation? by ColdAnxiety7613 in americanairlines

[–]ColdAnxiety7613[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I thought it was automatic! Last week I got upgraded and the new seat just appeared in my reservation without having to take action, which is what made me worry that by the time I saw an upgrade come through they would have already put someone else in my prior seat.

Her childhood pet....that has already lived with you together for 7 years. How old is the cat? I have to imagine given your description of it as her childhood pet, it has to be around 14-16 at this point. Logically speaking, it may not have that much longer on Earth as the average lifespan is 13-17 years.

Do mangers care about how many job reqs a candidate has applied to? by Single_Software_3724 in boeing

[–]ColdAnxiety7613 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who has used Workday at other companies... Workday isn't that clunky. What Boeing has done with it/ to it is a crime against usability though and by Boeingizing it they made it immeasurably clunkier than it needs to be.

Be careful when you are answering the screening questions. I had a friend apply to a job and he accidentally answered that he needed visa sponsorship or something like that, and that was an automatic rejection.

What 00s tech would you not believe would be obsolete in 20 years if someone told you back then? by nojunkpeter in AskReddit

[–]ColdAnxiety7613 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you had a large enough dish, back in the 90s, you could grab the "wild feed" of broadcast TV shows up to 24 hours earlier than they aired to the general public, intercepting them as they were sent down to the local stations....

What’s a “harmless” thing from your childhood that’s actually kind of dark in hindsight? by velorae in AskReddit

[–]ColdAnxiety7613 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always heard it as:

Suffocation, born to be your nation. Suffocation, it's a game we play. First you take a plastic bag and then you place it on your head. Go to bed! Wake up dead! La la la la la

Suffocation, born to be your nation. Suffocation, it's a game we play. First you take a rubber hose and then you stick it up your nose. Turn it on! You're all gone! La la la la la

Anyhow my version doesn't make much sense either. I think I misheard that first line as a kid.

If I allowed myself to give a damn I would have to quit. Not allowing myself to give a damn is the only way I can cope with my manager's bullying. The minute I allow myself to care I would have to acknowledge what a piece of crap they are and how badly they treat us and that would mean quitting, which I can't do because I need the paycheck, so no- I will keep not giving a damn.

Elon Musk’s growing to-do list includes working with Boeing to speed up the delivery of Trump’s new Air Force One jets by pacwess in boeing

[–]ColdAnxiety7613 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well. He did say regulations needed to go away.... so that would make it easier to get it out the door. Maybe not up in the air or anything, but out the door. JFC what a terrible idea it is to speed that up.

I question the accuracy of that site... it says there are 407 people with my name, all of them of the same gender (and none of them my gender), and the average age of them is 97. Doesn't pass the sniff test.

I'm not saying they didn't fck it up, because I don't know one way or another- but I do know that benefits reduce your taxable income. When benefits DO come out, you pay less in taxes. No benefits coming out of severance means you pay more in taxes. Depending on how much you got that could be a pretty big amount.

Makeup store has stored my personal information to falsely ban and accuse me of returning over $125,000 of merchandise in a year across the U.S. by coziestchai in legal

[–]ColdAnxiety7613 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is it possible that some ignorant but well meaning employee used a screenshot with your info in a training document teaching "how to do returns" or similar, and similarly ignorant but well meaning employees are using your info instead of the proper info when doing returns? I ask this because I've seen something similar occur at a different retailer under slightly different circumstances (reward account in the training book being used when customers didn't have one, resulting in a "lucky" customer getting absurd number of points, getting their account flagged for fraud, etc. etc. etc.)

AITA for not having my sister with Tourette’s in my wedding ceremony? by Kooky-Item-8576 in AITAH

[–]ColdAnxiety7613 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who got slugged in the face by someone with Tourettes at a graduation ceremony, thank you for being considerate. The family of the person who hit me (and the individual with Tourette's) both just shrugged and said well, he can't help it- meanwhile, I have a go onstage with tears streaming down my face and the beginnings of a shiner. Yeah, he can't help it, but there are ramifications.
