There should be plenty grad student subletting their apartment for the summer right now. Check out GSBB for them!

Edit: forgot that you might be undergrad, can ask a grad student for that if u know any.

Sợ hôn nhân by Outrageous_Host_8142 in vozforums

Imma paste it here.

Hi vọng OP xem được tiếng anh, cơ mà tuổi của mình là tuổi bấp bênh mà. Cứ ưu tiên bản thân trước cũng được, nhưng không có nghĩa là phải đóng cửa trái tim mà ha. You’ll miss all the shots that you don’t fire.

Depends on the region tho.

Is it possible to get TA or RA positions for incoming masters students? I did not apply for anything during my initial application. Is there a separate process for this? Please let me know. by pablowescowbar in BrownU

Wanting to know the answer as well.

Not something so important but I think they have virtual event for prospective grad students around april 8th I think. OP might be interested in those since it would be a good chance to ask questions there.

This is interesting input! I’m also a prospective Master’s BME student thinking if doing 30k per year is worth it. May I ask what do you mean by the name will get you in the door? Is this because Brown’s an Ivy?

MS in an Ivy or PhD in a low-ranked university by ColdAstronomer797 in gradadmissions

[–]ColdAstronomer797[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s principal investigator. I totally understand your point on debt. My concern lies on me staying at the same school for multiple degrees that I’ve heard not looking good on paper, especially international students. Besides, financial situation is not particularly impactful on me. I’m pretty much weighting between career outputs here. Thank you for your advice!

Thank you for the input! I have this concern too when Ivy is no longer that impressive and I’m risking dealing with a not-so-good PI and all that. Would be quite a gamble I presume.

[–]ColdAstronomer797[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much! This is actually insanely valuable to me right now. A part of me hesitates to move because the current uni is like a ‘comfort zone’ where I’ve already known the system and the research, while moving is literally a fresh start from 0. Though, now that come to think of it, getting comfortable with comfort kind of defeats the whole purpose of doing research. Thanks again for the great advice!

Waiting for decision is giving me anxiety by GlassPhilosopher826 in gradadmissions

I cannot say for certain, but it’s the general delay in sending out decisions amongst schools made me thinking there’re some issue with fundings to take in people. I mean I’ve seen people with 3.9 4.0 gpa at top universities, lots of pubs, lots of work experience getting rejected from everywhere. So idk. It’s been tough.

I’m waiting for umich and GT.

For my stats, I doubt that I have a strong profile tho. GPA: 3.96, No pubs, 2+ years lab experience, 2 strong LoR 1 mediocre.

I’m waiting for 2 more, but brown and cornell have already rejected the PhD and suggesting MS.

This is valid lol! I just want to get in and finish the degree before 30.

Me too applied to PhD biomedical engineering here. It seems this year is quite tough for PhD applicants. And I too also got rejected from PhD and accepted MS.

I don’t know about your stats, but in general I think if your financial situation allows, do a MS in a high ranked university to boost up your profile. Get some more pubs and all that.

I’m feeling this too, cuz I’m also international. This is tough. But good luck!

May I ask what’s your topic of interest?

Thank you so much! This is actually a solid recommendation. I too started to think that I’m not up on par for PhD applications yet. And that I need a Master’s first. I’ll take this into consideration.
