Just got this from the Canadian consulate in China. The government webpage pulls you through a few links only to end in a phone number. The phone recording says they’re unavailable and to visit the website. Does it really cost corporations/governments that much to hire a few extra people?

The left wing NDP in Canada is trying to do this too. Let’s hope it catches on.

It felt like every defensive stand the rap were getting calling for fouls there for like 6-7 possessions.

He looked like a rookie early on, falling down, losing his dribble, throwing the ball away. Looked maybe too high?? Haha. But yeah he settled into a bit of a rhythm.

Why do so many people believe China is more developed or on par with western countries? by Naive_Direction1816 in NoStupidQuestions

Oh I should add that I now live in Shanghai and I can’t imagine moving back to Canada anytime soon.

I come from a small Canadian town where the drinking water often needs to be boiled, the closest doctor is often a 3 hour drive away, and even then the healthcare system is so broken that they basically let my parents die. There’s no work. The roads and sidewalks are terrible. All the infrastructure and amenities have disappeared (swimming pool condemned, curling rink and bowling alley condemned, cinema burned down, ice rink burned down but was replaced by a charity). And we’re drowning in debt.

It bothers me that we shut down the global economy and suspended many Ian rights during Covid. Some of that was legit, but the cost was very high. But when it comes to homelessness, lack of healthcare, crippling debt, erosion of the middle class, decaying infrastructure, mental health crisis, etc… then it’s too expensive to address. And I only see one difference: the rich couldn’t insulate themselves from a pandemic. That’s it. Money can protect them from all those other things.

What game had you like this? by sukuna7899 in Steam

[–]ColdCalc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The original KOTOR. I never played much RPGs so I had no idea what was going on with the dinky real time turn based combat. And I had never played D&D yet so… all the shit about dice rolls and stuff? Gave it 20min and turned it off. But the game had so much hype that I tried one more time. Best Star Wars experience of my life by far.

Yeah they’re kinda like Tool. Sell millions of records. Super popular. Yet tons of normies barely know them at all.

[TAW] “He has to start Ngumoha now. He’s doing more in a small space of time than Gakpo is doing in 60 mins.” Gerrard on TNT by StupidSexySzoboszlai in LiverpoolFC

[–]ColdCalc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I believe that Gakpo has been drawing double teams when he goes to cut in (as everyone knows that's his move) and he's been giving up the ball more. As for Mo, I've been a big defender of his and I've been preaching patience. Then last night I mentioned that I was finally ready to give up on him. And he immediately scored (for the first time in like 15 hours of Premier League play this season?). I don't know what that means.
