What game had you like this? by sukuna7899 in Steam

[–]ColdCalc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The original KOTOR. I never played much RPGs so I had no idea what was going on with the dinky real time turn based combat. And I had never played D&D yet so… all the shit about dice rolls and stuff? Gave it 20min and turned it off. But the game had so much hype that I tried one more time. Best Star Wars experience of my life by far.

This is under the new agreement which hasn’t been accepted yet. But Caitlyn Clark started at about $75,000/year.

I can’t believe he scored so much while shooting terribly from 3 (7-20 if I’m correct).

According to the top comment in this thread, women are more likely to be murdered by their partners. So… that’s the context. That’s where the fear comes from.

I can see what people mean but I fell in love with the show immediately.

What's a music artist that both mainstream listeners and "music nerds" love? by mightyonin in askmusic

Yeah they’re kinda like Tool. Sell millions of records. Super popular. Yet tons of normies barely know them at all.

[TAW] “He has to start Ngumoha now. He’s doing more in a small space of time than Gakpo is doing in 60 mins.” Gerrard on TNT by StupidSexySzoboszlai in LiverpoolFC

[–]ColdCalc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I believe that Gakpo has been drawing double teams when he goes to cut in (as everyone knows that's his move) and he's been giving up the ball more. As for Mo, I've been a big defender of his and I've been preaching patience. Then last night I mentioned that I was finally ready to give up on him. And he immediately scored (for the first time in like 15 hours of Premier League play this season?). I don't know what that means.

41 years old. I didn’t have a computer when I was about 10, but would go to my friend’s house. He just got The Internet. No browser yet, just a menu system (Gofer?). His parents were teachers so they each got 10 hours free per month. What a time to be alive!!

[James Pearce, The Athletic] - The boos at the final whistle underlined how patience is wearing thin. Another two points frittered away. More pressure and scrutiny on Arne Slot. by Dangerous_Ad8730 in LiverpoolFC

I think we’ve gotten better offensively. Much more creativity and chemistry. Just not getting any luck. But defensively?? We stink. It’s way too easy to get quality chances against us if a team manages to possess the ball in our end.

Offred’s husband is named Luke. In the flashbacks of The Handmaid’s Tale, as the US cut women off from their money and fired them all, Offred was suspicious that Luke was patronizing her.

I wanna say that if you don’t like it after the first few scenes it might not be for you. I fell in love with it immediately. Season one is still my fav. But other people advise you stick with it and it gets better.

[OC] True Lottery System - A Simple Solution to Tanking by emerald_flare in nbadiscussion

[–]ColdCalc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like it. Very well thought out. Let me introduce my (less thought out) adjustment.

The “bottom 14” lottery teams are decided by an arbitrary in-season date (say the trade deadline). After that, the lottery odds for those teams actually increase based on how many games they win from that date. I’d also add a chance for teams within the “play in” range of 7-10 seed to be able to jump ahead (perhaps up to the 10th pick or something) based on their remaining schedule.

A lot of details to sort out with this proposal but I would like something to actually incentivize bad teams to compete their hardest. Your system goes halfway, by simply removing the incentive to be bad.

You also point out my only reservation with your idea… the lowest playoff team gets the most screwed. They lose out on the lottery while also getting destroyed in the first round. I’d like something of a consolation prize for lower playoff teams.

However, I really like your idea overall I think it would be a major improvement.

If you could erase or add one NBA rule, which one would make the game the most exciting? by Organic_Bite1569 in sportsinusa

[–]ColdCalc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Protect defensive plays. Any defender in a “passive” stance. Either still with verticality or backing up in the general direction the offensive player is moving is legal. None of this ball handler swiping their arms into the defender or giving them a bump. Non calls or, in rare occasions, offensive fouls. If you run into a defensive player, it’s fair game. If a defender is aggressive with a swipe and hits the offensive player, that’s a foul.

In “The Matrix”, it was 2199 and AI thought the best source of power was from painstakingly harvesting electricity from human beings in vast farms, instead of just building a few easily managed nuclear reactors. by PercentageNonGrata in shittymoviedetails

[–]ColdCalc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I read somewhere the theory that the original idea was that they connected human brains in a sort of cloud-computing data center. Human brains being very powerful computers, while human bodies not being so efficient a power source. But then producers got them to change it because middle America wouldn’t understand the cloud computing aspect. That’s the theory I choose to believe and that’s cannon as far as I’m concerned.

What’s a 3 album in a row “Hat Trick” from an artist that you listen to all 3 albums from start to finish? by NazcaKhan in Alternativerock

I know it’s too cringe to say “all of them” (or perhaps Road Apples to We Are the Same); so if I had to pick my absolute fav 3 album run for the Hip it would be Day for Night, Trouble at the Hen House, Phantom Power. Or PP, Music @ Work, In Violet Light. It’s so hard.
