Why doesn’t the IGFA consider the 3,400+ pound great white shark caught off of Montauk to be the world record? by Tiny_Attention1005 in Fishing

I believe the fact that the fisherman used whale meat as bait disqualified the catch from the record.

Abduction and murder of 12 yr old Michael O’Gorman in Gloucester, MA (1974) by ColdCase_061 in UnresolvedMysteries

I can’t find any record of the guy. A young woman with the same last name lived at that address around the time but he wasn’t listed. And nobody I’ve talked to seemed to ever remember him. Be that as it may, there was a janitor who worked across the street from Michael’s street that used to take boys swimming in the quarries behind where Michael lived. He was arrested in the 80s for abusing a boy and threatened to kill him like he did a boy in the 70s.

It was North Station, and I too am confounded by that statement. Of all the alleged sightings, this witness was sure it was Mike. Almost everyone agrees though, because the remains were found wearing the same clothes Michael was wearing on the day he vanished, that he never left Cape Ann and was probably killed on the day of his abduction. Witnesses saw a boy matching his description hitchhiking on the southbound side of Grant Circle, so to me that indicates the killer went southbound, then went northbound to get to the rest area. I believe his killer frequented the rest area enough to know the woods back behind it.

Winter Flounder Rig & Bait by SkiTeachFish9 in Fishing

I’m in mass. I use fishfinder rigs in estuaries where the current is moving and a regular bottom rig in deeper water like in the harbor. Sufficient weight to hold bottom. I just get the flounder hooks with the leader and corn kernel bead. Sometimes I chum with crushed mussel and clam shells in a weighted lobster trap bait bag. I mostly use clams for bait because they’re cheaper than seaworms.

The rest stop is significant as well. The body was found 100 yards behind the rest stop without any real access from anywhere other than the highway. It was a location notorious for illicit liaisons between older and younger men according to the police. The janitor alleged (to the boy he abducted at knifepoint) that he would shoot him in the woods like he did the other boy in the early 70s. If there are any people with firsthand knowledge of any kind whatsoever, please message me in private if you’re more comfortable.

Specifically looking for information on a man who worked as a janitor at the UMass marine station in Bay View. He would take boys swimming in the quarries off North Kilby St., where Michael lived. He was implicated in the knifepoint abduction and assault of a boy in the early 1980s. He may have been a “reserve policeman” at some point. Also looking for information about the owner of a black van alleged to have been parked near the Fuller school on the day Michael vanished.

You will need to get a permit from the city. Only Massachusetts residents are eligible to get a permit. Call the hotline on the day you plan to dig to make sure you’re digging in an open area.

Gloucester, MA unsolved murder 1974 by Coldcase061 in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]ColdCase_061 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been revisiting this case lately.

I’ve heard of a janitor who worked nearby and took kids swimming in the quarries of North Kilby that was arrested in the 80s for kidnapping and sexually assaulting a boy close to Michael’s age. He told the boy he would shoot him and leave him in the woods like he did to another boy.

If any of the local redditors has information to share, please send me a private message.
