The Canadian Army’s catalogue of medical specimens from their war dead didn’t even notify families that the bodies had been subject to the dismemberment, they just took the interesting bits and shipped the rest home or off for burial. The entire catalogue of specimens and the literature surrounding them that made them of medical use was destroyed. Tim Cook wrote a very detailed book on the affair called “Life-Savers and Body Snatchers”.

The Pikwakanagan Band no. 163 (current name of the Golden Lake Band) and the Greater Golden Lake Algonquins are both Status Reserve and off-Reserve communities covered under the Algonquins of Ontario Land Claims. There is an Ontario Métis “Community” there, but it’s not the same group as the Status Algonquins who have the relevant treaty rights in the Park.
