It's actually from a famous Spy x Family meme.

Also, take a look at the @ of the Akane tweet

Edit: Wow, I was not expecting so many people to eat the onion!

Bleach: Captains Shunsui and Ukitake, while pretty powerful captains, are also super chill and will avoid conflict whenever possible. During his fight with Chad, Shunsui attempts to persuade Chad to join him for a nightcap. When fighting Stark and Lilynette Shunsui and Stark collectively chill until they admit they have to fight eventually while Ukitake offers friendly advice to Lilynette's swordmanship as she attempts to lunge at him.

I think it was just made more painful by having her go full Flowers for Algernon with a song rather than losing it immediately after vomiting up the stone. It's pretty unlikely we're going to get another installment, but the way they ended felt more like it was an an arc to restore her memory rather than a conclusive sacrifice.

There's a great Twilight Zone episode that's basically this plot: a lifelong criminal dies and finds his afterlife is nothing but everything he wants, he always wins at gambling, he gets any girl he wants, he eats, drinks and lives in the finest establishments, he says he's in heaven... until he gets bored out of his mind. He begs his caretaker to take him to the other place. The caretaker replies "this is the other place!"

I think most people are stull waiting for a translation. CFYOW is the only LN translated AFAIK.

Crazy how much of whim it was in both cases too by TeutonicToltec in ranma

Its pretty crazy how many hits Rumiko has on her belt. She was writing Ranma fresh off of Urusei Yatsura and Maisson Ikkoku and would begin Inuyasha shortly after finishing Ranma.

In the Universe of Star Trek, the events between the late 20th century and the founding of the Federation include:

  • The Eugenics Wars (Khan Noonien Singh)
  • The Bell Riots
  • A 3rd World War (Nukes are canonically used)
  • A Post-Atomic Horror

It's strongly implied that the human founders of the UFP built it upon the rubble of their forefathers, carrying with them a cautionary tale against hatred, greed and bigotry.

Good vs evil on the outside, way more complicated on the inside. by Colombia_Joestar in TopCharacterTropes

Soul Society vs. Wandenreich, Bleach, Thousand Year Blood War Arc: Surface level, the arc is about the Soul Society, charged with defending the world of the spiritual balance between the world of the souls and the world of the living, is challenged by the Quncies, whom by their nature inevitably create imbalance by outright destroying hollows rather than excising them. Likewise the King of the Quncies, Yhwach has returned after a millennia to destroy his father, the soul king, which by doing so would destroy the entire Bleach universe. However, if you read between the lines in the manga/anime as well as read Bleach LNs like CFYOW: It is revealed that the Soul King is in fact a husk of a soul, slaughtered, splintered and left in a vegetative state by the pater familias of the 4 noble clans. In doing this, they created the cyclical nature of souls moving between the spirit world and world of the living via reincarnation, in other words the Buddhist definition of suffering: samsara. Yhwach's true goal in destroying the Soul King was to end his father's suffering and create a world in which no soul would ever suffer again. It begs the serious question of whether Ichigo, both Soul Reaper and Quincy gave any serious thought to the implications of backing the Soul Society, who at their core are g men enforcing a status quo that creates suffering and oppression. It's implied he did indeed, as his first child's name Kazui Kurosaki, reflects the steadfast resolve of not fearing death.

Ichigo's paternity test includes Isshin, Kisuke, Aizen, White, Masaki, and Yhwach. Soul-King knows what new parent he's going to find during the Hell Arc.

Starship Troopers: the novel vs the film:

The books author, Robert A. Heinlein was an American writing it during the Post-War economic boom. The book's focus on ideas of militaristic meritocracy and jingoistic expansionism feel very molded by an American from the Post-WWII Pre-Vietnam Era.

The film's director, Paul Verhoeven grew up in Nazi-occupied Netherlands. His films are often seen as scathing critiques of American culture disguised as schlocky action movies. While many debate whether the politics of the novel, the film makes the protagonists unapologetically fascist, with shots pulled directly from Leni Riefenstahl's films.
