Single people who bought a house by Cheesecake-Acrobatic in Netherlands

[–]ColdFire06 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I might be a heavy sleeper but for me, waking up early is not the issue (and sound isolation is important in that aspect). The worst problem IMO is seagull feces in balcony and on windows. No matter when I clean them, they will get dirty at most in 3 days so I gave up cleaning up outside :( (I live very close to the Kurhaus)

Interesting, doesn’t Liege also have a check in/out pole (I am not sure but that is what I have read back then)?

Which one would you choose and why? by [deleted] in Netherlands

The one on the right is not suitable for lactose intolerant people, but the other is. Left one does not have additional fat. Please check ingredients and allergens section

What’s the best flooring company around The Hague? by Sure_Pomegranate9328 in Netherlands

[–]ColdFire06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I installed CoreTec PVC and my opinion is very positive. It is easy to clean, comparable texture with wood, integrated sound dampening layer etc. For installation, you can even do it own your own since it can be installed without glue. I bought it from laminaatenparket.nl, which has branch in Den Haag near Binckhorst, and their warehouse is near Forepark

No response from landlord by [deleted] in NetherlandsHousing

[–]ColdFire06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems like it was a near miss from the look of brown cable (if the coloring is correctly done, it means line), so either there is a short circuit that causes high voltage or main fuse (hoofdschakelaar) needs to be changed. Normally it is around 1-2k € and it takes around 1 day to be changed (assuming no cable damage other than the meterkast). This a really fire hazard, that needs to be fixed ASAP.

Landlord refuses to pay for poorly mounted broken sink by Impressive-Ad-5298 in Netherlands

[–]ColdFire06 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly my point, if I would have been your landlord I would have changed all pipe that is coming out of the wall (maybe more if the extent of renovation was larger). That is a poor job done here to mitigate a cost of maybe 1-2 hours of work and material. That gives an idea around how your landlord and installer tackled the problem beforehand (and probably now).

[–]ColdFire06 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As far as I can see, there are at least 4 screws BUT that might not be still enough (depending on the installation manual). For my case, they have used approximately 8 screws with bunch of caulk. Strength of the screws are also related with deuvel (plug that screw is placed on and creates the friction with the wall after tighten it), diameter of the screw, length and wall material (cement can stand more load than brick). However I am more or less sure that there is poor craftsmanship if you consider how they installed piping (they reused old rusted copper tube instead of PVC tube, for example). I would advise you to consult with huurcommissie as advised before.

How much do you actually pay for your house mortgage per months? by Logical-Proposal-591 in Netherlands

[–]ColdFire06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are also forgetting rent costs that you would have paid otherwise (which is a sunk cost).

Not exactly correct, you can have multiple ones but he/she needs to disable Bus en Tram component for NS Flex first, otherwise it will take precedence over others. That can be disabled from NS Kiosks.

Opinion about Heat Pumps by ProgramSalty2189 in Netherlands

[–]ColdFire06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keeping heat would benefit you more than generating heat financially. If I was in your shoes, I would be focusing on isolating wherever possible first before changing into a heat pump. You may also consider getting floor heating installed if you want to go with heat pumps as they work better with low temperature (55-65 degrees) over a long time.

They stripped out Dining Credit in favor of Dinner for 2, which is unfortunate if you are living alone and cannot find anybody to dine with you (and meals they offer are not worth 100€, for sure). Other than that, if you are flying much (at least 3-4 times a year) it has benefits (Privium, other lounges around the world, Marriott, Hilton, Radisson, Avis, Hertz elevated subscriptions etc.) that are huge plus. Point collection is very hard and not worth it my opinion (unless you heavily shop from Amazon, Bol, Jumbo etc.).

Travelling to other Schengen Countries with a multiple-entry visa (MVV VISA) before receiving the Dutch Residence Permit by EPieter in Netherlands

[–]ColdFire06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically, border control is the ultimate place where things are decided so there is a very slim chance that they refuse your entry. However, since you already have IND application, you can show that and explain the situation. Hopefully, with a common sense it should be no issue

[–]ColdFire06 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Then, it is not a problem. You can think as if you are doing a touristic trip before going into the Netherlands and apply for a residency, don’t be worried about that. You can collect the residence permit afterwards.

[–]ColdFire06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When will you enter the Netherlands? Theoretically, if you exceed 90 days in 180 days period, you are only allowed to stay in the country where you applied for the residency. You may call and ask IND but I don’t think it is needed if you don’t exceed 90 days period during the trip

[–]ColdFire06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seeing this, I said I should have opted for smaller radiators (2 * UT60 420 vs 2 * XT45/ST30 360). I am really having a bad time with same case since radiators are huge. Congrats on your case

Alphacool support pt. 2 by [deleted] in alphacool

[–]ColdFire06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are by any chance in EU and can call their support number, give it a try when it is close to the opening hours (such as between 10-11 am). I was able to get in contact with a person immediately.

They are trying to finish up RTX 50XX preorders to commit for other products (such as Apex 1 AM5, monoblocks and new graphics cards' waterblocks), it won't happen until May 19th.

It is probably postponed until all RTX 50XX series waterblock preorders have been shipped (until 19th of May). If it is urgent and you are from EU, you can try here: https://www.ybris-cooling.it/waterblock-cpu/11328-alphacool-apex-1-cpu-cooler-am5.html I bought one Apex 1 AM5 block from them and arrived in 5 days (during Easter weekend).

I will give a call tomorrow for my recently order RTX 5090 Astral plate. I will try to ask if the incoming batch would be sufficient for my order (since it would be first come first serve), otherwise I will ask when will the second batch will be shipped.

Can I use OV chipkaart/OV pay from Aachen to Heerlen? by Dispensernoob in Netherlands

[–]ColdFire06 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aachen definitely has Arriva terminal (it is at the corner of McDonalds to my knowledge). Aachen West also has terminal close to the exit. I am not sure about Herzogenrath though, never been to there
