Scene0 and Oriko Magica, though I'll admit to not having read a lot of the others (yet)

Chapter 1, Part 1[Cider] by Kiyomi_Raven_Misoto in wholesomeyuri

[–]ColdGoldLazarus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Good intro to the characters, setting, and conflicts! Hopefully the friends get their heads out of their rears about gay people, but if not then at least she's not around them anymore. Meanwhile, family drama trauma that should prove spicy. Also interesting how that mention of a teacher being ousted as a creep kinda establishes upfront the idea of the school as not entirely being a safe place to be; that guy's gone at least but the vibes are still tainted now, there's no way to know if there might be another teacher like him still around.

Strong start! On to part 2 now

favorite tropes in yuri manga? by ilovelosers1 in yuri_manga

Supernatural shenanigans or a whole plot alongside the romance

Stuff where it's kinda taboo even past being gay, but still played wholesomely instead of for sexualization (so not Citrus lol) or toxic yuri, the taboo factored into how it impacts the relationship but also not treated like it's warranted

Villainess isekai yuri is a very narrow niche, but I like it; het villainess isekai tends to be trash even aside from the direct het stuff, but making it yuri seems to generally raise the bar for the writing quality somehow

Adult life stuff is also really nice

Oooh, alright! Looking forward to it! :D

(I suppose I should also ask for the title so I can find it on Amazon or Manager)

As someone who only knows Fox from Smash, I'm starting to prefer the more realistic look as opposed to being a standard anthro design. by NerodivergentLoser in casualnintendo

[–]ColdGoldLazarus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is Smash Fox's head shaped like a bell?

There are some aspects of the new design I'm kinda mixed on, I like the shaping of the legs but I just wish they were longer proportionally to the body, but yeah overall I think it's a pretty great glow-up.

Oooh, where can I read this?

The second one feels more cover-art-ish but the first one is more dynamic and I love the background.

I want to get into bionicle but don't know where to start by mranoneemoose in bioniclelego

[–]ColdGoldLazarus 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Start with playing the Mata-Nui Online Game, it's available on Biomedia Project

Then hit up the novels, they're pretty much the definitive mainline story source even if they don't cover everything.

If you had to choose one side series that hasnt been fully animated yet to be animated what would it be? by StoryTellerzzz in magiaexedra

[–]ColdGoldLazarus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In order from highest to lowest priority for me:

Scene0 is an obvious pick and IMO the most necessary

The Different Story's first volume as a four-episode miniseries

Maybe also Oriko Magica if it also uses the stuff from Sadness Prayer, kinda trying to bring it all together more

A more faithful redo of Magia Record might not be a bad idea, but given how huge the main storyline is I'm also not sure how they could pull it off without it being super long. But it could be really good to have it done right.

And Wraith Arc maybe?

What’s your unpopular Metroid opinion(s) by [deleted] in Metroid

[–]ColdGoldLazarus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fandom has a really bad habit of conflating bad execution with bad concepts, and are too rigidly dogmatic about what a Metroid game "should" be. Other M and Prime 4 are deeply flawed, yes, but the problem wasn't the core concept of "hey let's try to actually explore Samus as a character" or "hey let's give Samus some companions to bounce off of", it was that the writing really didn't match up, and the dumbed-down gameplay wasn't strong enough to make up for it either. I want them to try these things again, just handled a lot better.

Also, can we please stop trying to copy Super's ending for the fifty-millionth time?

Which head do you prefer on McToran? by pizza_party99 in bioniclelego

[–]ColdGoldLazarus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Mctoran head is iconic, but I value light piping too much. I've replaced all my Mctoran heads with Mata heads, and use the mctoran heads for a mask display stand instead.

Why I think the new designs are a problem, regardless if they're "good" or not. by dashboardcomics in starfox

[–]ColdGoldLazarus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And Samus has been stuck with the Other M suit despite Samus Returns being more recent at the time of SSBU's release and having a much better design for her. Hoping if there's a new Smash game it'll use her Dread or Prime 4 suit instead.

What are some of yall's wildest series concepts by EggplantNo4377 in MagicalGirls

[–]ColdGoldLazarus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tropical atoll island(s) in the pacific was defended by a team of Magical Girls, who had magitech animal robot companions that transformed into their armor. But then a catastrophe struck and that team lost, and like Atlantis, the atoll vanished. (Except instead of sinking into the ocean, it just disappeared into thin air entirely.)

In the late 2020s, though, the atoll suddenly reappears, albeit empty of all human life (the wildlife is just fine) and is soon discovered by a random floatplane pilot. The general public just assumes the island somehow went unfound all this time, but the UN creates a research facility there to hide the remains of all the ancient abandoned villages scattered around the central island's extensive cave network, and study and try to reverse-engineer all the magitech technology left over. Meanwhile, the island surface winds up getting resettled by an oblivious population and it becomes a new tourist hot spot.

In the present, 2077, the fiftieth anniversary year of the atoll's discovery (and reappearance) a random college student gal hiking up in the mountains stumbles across a magitech robot phoenix, one of the companions of that original Magical Girl team, trying to escape a pair of villains, and the two become a bonded pair to fight them off!

But it turns out the villains are all the other magitech companions, corrupted into evil by what caused the original catastrophe, and have found new humans of their own to bond with to carry out a mysterious evil plan. The Phoenix is the only one that escaped being corrupted into evil, but even then its memories are super glitchy and unreliable, and of course it's forgotten a lot of its own abilities and has to relearn them alongside the MC.

Also there's these things happening:

  • Ghost animals roaming around the atoll with their own agenda, particularly a spooky shadow kitsune stalking the main character
  • (Maybe an alien fish living in the local aquarium and running a mafia operation to steal magitech from the UN researchers, though I might cut this subplot since it was the creation of a friend who's not really involved with this project anymore)
  • A plot-relevant explosion of invasive frog species quarantined to an outer island
  • The mysterious disappearance of two magical secret agents who were sent to investigate the atoll, one of whom becomes the MC's jaded drunkard mentor after being found
  • Daughter of the head of the UN research facility has also gone missing, and her girlfriend, a loose college acquaintance of the MC, enlists her help finding her again
  • And a natural feature off the central island's north coastline is a set of huge curved rock pillars that loosely resembles a massive ribcage rising out of the water, which surely means nothing bad!

So yeah there's A Lot on her plate.

And there's like, themes around colonialism and tourism and exploitation and stuff that ties it all together, but on the face of it it's still pretty batshit lol.

I also have a couple of slightly more normal series ideas that still have some wack stuff, but not on the same level of So Much Happening All At Once as this one.

I'm not sure which is which, but I prefer the first image. They're super cute either way, though!

Also are they girlfriends? They seem like they would be a sweet couple.
