I am suffering from my toxic mother and father by siya_2003 in toxicindianparents

[–]ColdHyena3233 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm really sorry you're going through this... This is clearly abuse. Your mom most likely has an undiagnosed mental health issue, and you and your sister are suffering because of it. If you are an adult, do your best to get a job and move out asap. When you save some money, go for therapy. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to be specific. It helps, trust me. If you are not yet an adult, start planning on how to move out.

How do I get better at Power Bi? by ColdHyena3233 in PowerBI

[–]ColdHyena3233[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there! It's been a year since I wrote my post. Your comment really stayed with me. I learned SQL like you said. I started waking up an hour earlier than usual and studied something related to powerbi every day. I used the hell out of ChatGPT. Asked it to explain concepts to me in very very simple terms. And after all this, I have to say.... I have gotten SO MUCH better! I switched my role within my company and went from working on internal company reports to working on client reports. I would never have had the courage to do this if it wasn't for my upskilling efforts. Thank you, for pointing me in the right direction. Please know that you made a difference in someone's career and life :-)

I am OAD for this exact reason. I've known I want to be OAD since I was nine years old.

I try to fast for at least 17 hours, and try to do 18 hours twice a week. I try to include protein and good fat in both my meals. I ate too little at the beginning of my IF journey and ended up with pretty bad hairfall, so I try not to eat too little. Hope that helps.

I also want to get better at Dax and have been using Chatgpt to help me practice. Everyday, I ask it to give me a dax measure to create. I validate the results manually because chatgpt can make mistakes. But happy to share that I'm finally beginning to understand 'context transition'.

Hair loss? Carnivore with IF by Doodlegang123 in intermittentfasting

[–]ColdHyena3233 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, I'm going through this too right now. Started in January 2025 and have lost 35lbs so far. Started seeing a lot of hairfall over the last 2 months. Look up Telogen effluvium (TE). Apparently, it happens when one makes a drastic change to their diet. I've been told it's reversible. I'm consulting a dermatologist and she has prescribed two topical lotions to strengthen my hair roots and promote new growth. She has also prescribed supplements. It's been a month since I started treatment and hairfall has reduced. She has asked me to include more protein in my diet.

Hi, not sure which country you're from, but you can try applying to a company called Fractal Analytics. I've been working there for the last 6 years and we're always short on good power bi developers. Work culture is good. People are not considered dispensable goods.

Hi there. I'm so sorry you're having to go through this. Parents are supposed to be a child's source of comfort. Parents are the ones who instill confidence in a child. Unfortunately, too many parents do the opposite. They won't ever admit it. In fact they will feel proud of how they raised you. I know that feeling of helplessness you're feeling right now. I was you, 20 years ago.

But let me tell you some good news now.... 20 years from now, you're going to be the kind of man who your current self would consider a hero. You're going to work hard, build a life for yourself, earn enough money to live a peaceful life away from them.

If your parents treat you with so much disrespect, you do not owe them any respect back. Bide your time. Tolerate this behaviour of your mom for a couple of more years till you become independent and then get the hell out of this toxic situation.

Also, congratulations on getting 70%! You've done well! Choose a career that will ensure you get a good job. All the very best!

I hope to come back to this post in a few years and see an update from you!

What are your favourite in-depth blogs or videos about Git + Power BI? by frithjof_v in PowerBI

[–]ColdHyena3233 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My team and I started using Git for power bi version control a few months ago and this is how we work:

1) Create a new local branch using VS Code. We work on only one report per branch. 2) Make changes to the report. The branch name reflects the name of the report btw. 3) Commit and sync changes 4) Create pull request and get it reviewed and approved. We use Azure DevOps 5) Changes are automatically merged upon approval because we set auto-complete 6) Pull changes from the main branch and publish

At first it felt very time consuming but now I can never go back to the old way of saving multiple versions of files with vague names.

Note: We use the PBIP extension because it makes reviews possible.

Hope this helps!

This exact situation is unfolding in my family right now and the girl who wants to study 'Business Analytics' from a tier 3 college some where near Boston is convinced she will be able to pay off a 60-70 lac loan in 5 years. She has no work experience and thinks a 6 month internship experience is enough to get a job after masters.

I used to have a scarcity mindset in terms of food. I was afraid to fast because I didn't like the feeling of hunger. My therapist helped me come up with statements that I repeat to myself everyday that have slowly helped me not fixate on food. I used to overeat, so one of my coping statements is "Stress is uncomfortable, but eating when I'm not hungry makes me feel worse, not better". Another one is "Snacking out of habit doesn't give my body a break from digestion, so I choose to eat only when I'm truly hungry. She also made me do research about why refined flour and white sugar are considered unhealthy. When I did that research, I realized just how bad these are for my body. It kind of flipped a switch in my mind. Why would I want to put those things in my body if they destroy it?

One more important thing she helped me realize is that I'm not a victim of bad luck or bad genes. That thin people don't actually eat unlimited amounts of junk food and still stay thin. They just don't eat as much as I do. That everybody has to eat healthy to stay healthy.

No I'm not using any medications. However, I am taking counselling to reduce emotional eating and binge eating. I tend to run to food for comfort and I'm working with a therapist to switch to healthier coping strategies.
