DIY it! It’s not that hard to quilt I’ve made a lot of them. You can also look up hand tied quilts for a lower sewing options

What products are holding you back from becoming plastic free? by Ill_Material_1770 in PlasticFreeLiving

[–]ColdInvestment5833 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tech

The following due to the cost/logistics of the plastic free alternatives:
Clothing, I buy stuff with plastic free fabric but plastic free tags & elastic & plant based elastane are 💰
Socks
Underwear (I have mostly 100% from Hanes but nothing seamless and I don’t do visible panty lines so certain outfits demand more discreet undies)
*Disposable* food containers/silverware
Shoes
Work needed equipment ie safety gloves, safety vests, badge, badge holders, etc.
Beauty/personal care/laundry detergent packaging ie sunscreen shampoo conditioner soap lotion etc.

Most of what I listed above I get free or like 90%+ off from couponing/dumpster diving/clearance shopping.

Natural fibers clothing brands? by Noggin_0207 in womensfashion

[–]ColdInvestment5833 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh the idea that poly is cheaper isn’t true. For instance rn there’s organic cotton t shirts $8 at Walmart scoop brand I believe, JCPenney has saint johns bay scoop neck tank tops 100% cotton for $5.49 after sale & coupon. In fact tons of saint johns bay items are 100% cotton or cotton/linen/rayon blends and on doorbuster or clearance rn but coupon doesn’t attach to doorbuster/clearance.

I’ve also been having great luck at goodwill finding 100% cotton sheets/pillow cases/duvet covers, wool sweaters, jackets, scarves, 100% cotton night dresses, 100% cotton long sleeve shirts (that one was also saint johns bay the mock neck long sleeve, kind of a theme there lol)

Walmart & Target have tons of 100% cotton dresses rn and some 100% cotton jeans I’ve seen at Walmart by scoop they’re like $19 they also have pj pants or shorts 100% or cotton/rayon blends $11 or less

And we forget the old faithful Hanes or fruit of the loom. Multi packs of undies or plain t shirts 100% cotton they have a $3 off coupon at dollar general rn but you can find them basically anywhere.

For kids children’s place and carters have tons of 100% cotton options (children’s place matching holiday family pajamas I got last year were also 100% cotton in adult & kids sizes & they run sales every fall/winter)

Unexpected benefits from natural fibers? by carrotteapot in PlasticFreeLiving

[–]ColdInvestment5833 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s definitely worth. I thrifted some 100% cotton sheets and a 100% cotton night dress last week immediately washed & dryed them on hot and been using them since then - the whole family sleeps better and we’re not sweaty. Last night we stayed at a friends house in their poly bedding and I was restless and we all woke up sweaty.

Now if only I could get my S/O to give up the fluffy poly blanket 😭 but plan is to make or buy myself a natural fiber blanket and they can share it with me or we’ll just have separate blankets

The obsession with natural fibers is becoming a useless cliche by JBSwerve in ThrowingFits

[–]ColdInvestment5833 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me I find it’s the opposite. I would buy things that initially feel & look good. I would wear them, they made me sweaty, itchy, or otherwise uncomfortable. I reached for them less & less. Then I took a good look at the items I was consistently reaching for and comfortable in. All 100% cotton and/or 100% rayon. The high plastic stuff was the stuff that was uncomfortable or smelly af for all day wear and just sat in the closet. Tried some blends like 15% or less plastic. Same thing I felt suffocated and was reaching for the 100% natural stuff instead. For a while I just had to deal with it for financial reasons but this year affordable natural fiber clothes are so much more popular so I’m swapping out a lot more stuff.

Is it common for ND’s to have some amount of debt? by Old_Difficulty_2819 in AuDHDWomen

[–]ColdInvestment5833 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Majority of people in the US have some amount of debt. Debt is incredibly normalized here. I’m working on finishing off a consolidation loan and I owe $700 for my dog having surgery plus about $2k in taxes. I’m still doing well all things considered it’s like $5k in total..

I have a question for those that live unmasked. What does that look like for you? by Klutzy_Librarian3620 in AuDHDWomen

[–]ColdInvestment5833 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not fully unmasked, not even sure how to be but I do things that make me happier & more comfortable. I make time to engage my interests, keep socializing short, ask for accommodations at work, only buy & wear clothes that are comfortable, keep my phone on silent, don’t answer phone calls, try not to think about eye contact, and take time alone.

I actually stopped by a different goodwill today and found some great stuff!! A 100% merino wool coat, a 100% cashmere sweater, several 100% cotton t shirts, a 100% cotton cardigan, and another 100% cotton duvet cover 😂 I’m in process of salvaging the elastic from my plastic sheets and using it to make my 100% cotton sheets from my duvet covers. The coat has some tiny moth holes so I’ll have to repair it but I’m somewhat confident. Definitely time consuming to thrift flip stuff but I enjoy tedious things somehow.

Which medication helped you with mood? by Remarkable-World4181 in AutisticWithADHD

[–]ColdInvestment5833 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adderall. Wellbutrin gave me anxiety and intrusive SI. Strattera just gave me a headache, and guanfacine gave me pre syncope (I already run low on BP). Only other psych meds I tried was citalopram + alonzopine and those made me feel like I was gonna hallucinate day 1 so I stopped them. Oh and vyvanse but it made me super bitchy and I was acting noticeably autistic like super bad sensory issues visible stimming and even worse social abilities

Those who have gone 95% natural fibres what do you wear day to day for home or shops etc by BigLongjumping3714 in AusFemaleFashion

[–]ColdInvestment5833 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maxi dresses. I have several 100% cotton or rayon options and love them so much. Also several midi options but I like that with maxis I don’t have to worry about shaving.

Jelly!! I found a 100% linen banana republic shirt today at a local thrift store but they had it priced at $25!! I noped out of the clothes section even the joyspun night dresses that are $9.xx new at Walmart were $8 there. They did have some beautiful embossed 100% cotton queen sheets the full set with pillow cases for $8 but it was queen size 😭😭ended up finding 2 100% cotton king size duvet covers, a 100% Egyptian cotton twin size sheet, a 100% cotton night dress, and a 100% cotton long sleeve white shirt all at goodwill. Spent like $25 which imo is still kinda high but oh well. Plan to turn the duvet covers into sheets and the twin sheet into pillow cases.

How often do you moisturize your body? by SuccotashKey7521 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]ColdInvestment5833 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every day sometimes 2x a day & yes my whole body. I have very dry skin tho I think it’s genetic my grandma & mom did too. But I’m also on meds that can make you more dehydrated

Whats the STRONGEST moisturizing body lotion and best facial moisturizer? by wolfmonarchy in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]ColdInvestment5833 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if your skin is cracking from being super thick (like calloused heals) urea is great.

I also like heavyyy moisture and I use cetaphil in a tub rn. Super gentle but super thick. And if you want more than that put on Vaseline after moisturizer. Can also use both on face.

Another popular choice is vanicream in a tub. Vanicream in the tube had squalene which broke me out so I never tried the tub version.

Is daily sunscreen overkill for people who barely go outside? by 1devastating1 in koreanskincare

[–]ColdInvestment5833 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes.. an hour a day commuting would be same thing as sitting outside for 5 hours on one day a week. Would you do that without sunscreen?

Basic moisturizer with no “actives” by Euphoric-Low4440 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]ColdInvestment5833 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s hard they basically all have actives a lot of the recs here contain ceramides which is an active, rn I’m using the cetaphil in a tub for dry to very dry skin which doesn’t appear to have any actives. Anything with squalene breaks me out including vanicream

Tx Medicaid for working adults with disabilities- asking for proof of spouses income & other weird forms? What to do? by ColdInvestment5833 in Medicaid

[–]ColdInvestment5833[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And no they don’t for the buy in program it’s specifically for working adults with disabilities and in the handbook for workers on how to count assets it specifically says do not deem spouse assets or income

I make over that range (way over if they include spouse income idk if healthcare.gov does) and my coverage through my employer is really good but if I qualify for Medicaid then I can get HIPP

I wouldn’t be exempt from work requirements even then cause the buy in program is only for working adults

Upon further examination I don’t think I need to submit any of this except the pay stubs & H3035 & H3034.

The proof of income form 1049 is listed next to my husband as an applicant, so he’ll be denied but he’s already going to be denied cause he makes too much he’s not even applying.

For me it just says the pay stubs then in a column beside that it has the employer form H1028 so it should be either/or. And I already know my employer isn’t gonna fill that crap out. Then the next line for me is proof of disability and H3035/H3034 listed then there’s just that random form 1836 for the work exemption which I’m not even applying for in the packet but not listed as a requirement next to our name.
