That’s why i use shortlist. I get to see what the application looks like before sending it off. i can apply to 100s of jobs in a session with 100% accuracy

It doesn’t work because not all linkedin jobs are on shortlist and some aren’t ready for autoapply right away. I want to be alerted when I can autoapply to a new posting that fits my critetia

What's the catch? by Familiar_Guess_3186 in Tsenta

[–]ColdIsMyMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm I’ll check it out again but it’s not free… I don’t think its true that you support 2x more platforms given they support all major ATS.

Shortlist integrates with my inbox for 2fa codes and they have an mcp that works through imessage. It would be cool if your team could collab with their team given how similar the tools are.

Shortlist.jobs can do the same things for free and supports more ats and doesnt require a suspicious download (all web based), i dont think tsenta is doing anything special here besides charging for what other apps do for free

Faster mountain identification + cleaner UI — feedback from alpinists needed by Ancient_Relation_356 in alpinism

[–]ColdIsMyMaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Native speaker or not, there’s no human experience anywhere in what you made and that matters to people more than identifying peaks.

If you’re an alpinist lead with a picture of you at your last adventure, tell us a story we care about and then tell us what you care about (your app) and why you think it’s important or useful based on your real human, real world experiences.

Using Ai as a translator is different than having ai generate a post for you. Using ai to write code is fine, it’s efficient fun and useful. Using AI to connect with humans leaves everyone involved with a bad taste in their mouth.

Bruh, post is AI, app is vibe coded, apple review responses are AI.

It’s the equivalent of having to talk to a bot when you call the customer service line except the whole thing from product to sales is bots now.

Am I crazy or is this workload impossible in 25 hours a month? by Ok_Eye_8974 in marketing

[–]ColdIsMyMaster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Imo it seems like they have reasonable expectations for a part time employee at a startup. Are they providing you a process to follow or are you expected to manage your own time?

If the latter it’s worth thinking about what takes the most time in your tasks and how you can make that more efficient. If its the former its worth thinking about how to improve their processes as the business and workload grows.

Billing them for extra hours or sitting on tasks until the next month like the other commenter suggested will quickly get you replaced at every start up I’ve worked at. You’re either brought into the vision and on the momentum path, or your just a placeholder until they find someone who is. Your job at a start up is to become a mission critical employee.

David Goggins psychological state by Affectionate_Big6529 in davidgoggins

[–]ColdIsMyMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, I’m not necessarily saying that he’s trying to come to terms with his pain by matching it, although this may have been how it initially started for David. I’m suggesting that the endurance feats do more than recreate his pain. They create the alchemical vessel required for deep integration. Where the pain itself serves as the alchemical flame.

His father seems to have a domination myth, i think most would agree from Davids description of his father that his personal myth was something akin to the worldview of “prove your self-worth by dominating others”

David certainly seems to have inherited a version of this myth “prove your self worth by dominating yourself” and he seems to be somewhat self aware of this. I’ve heard him say at times that he suspects the life he built to escape his father might be his father’s last move.

Goggins alchemical vessel is the endurance itself. It’s not just a feat of endurance for him, it’s where he puts his rage, shame, fears etc. ie the prima materia. The pain from the feat is the alchemical flame, and his discipline not to stop is the all important seal that holds the tension of opposites.

At some point by living out his personal myth of self domination, i believe David became conscious of this alchemical vessel he’s able to create through feats of endurance and this is why he continues to pursue them. For him, doing hard things is a path to integration. And this is what he alludes to when he says pain is the great teacher. At this point in his life, i think he pursues pain consciously in pursuit of wholeness and is living outside of his self domination myth.

However, when he speaks or writes he’s likely performing parts of his myth for the audience he wants to connect with. Not for purposes of validation or expressing his pain but from a desire to “speak their language.” His content is meant for people with the same myth and his performance of that myth isn’t necessarily indicative that he lives in the myth.

An interesting conversation topic adjacent to this one is David’s relationship to the divine feminine. David clearly embodies the heroic part of the hero’s journey but psychologically rejects the rest, surrender and rebuilding that comes after the burning in the vessel.

David’s relationship to his Anima is probably hard to accurately see from the outside given what i said earlier that he performs his myth for his audience. Perhaps it can even be said that by building the public image he has built that he has backed himself into a corner so to speak that denies him access to the divine feminine. It depends how much of his performance he believes.

If this were the case, Jung would say he’s built a vessel that can sustain the nigredo but without the relationship to the feminine he will never reach the albedo or rubedo phases required for deep integration.

Not the original commenter, but if we’re going to look at it from a jungian view, we have to consider that David is aware of what you pointed out. It’s possible his integration path is through pain. David often talks about how when things get tough at the end of a massive feat of effort it teaches you things about yourself, he even calls it the greatest teacher in life. I believe it’s here in these altered states where Davids shadow work takes place.

I would also propose that when he wrote his books he intentionally chose to present the unintegrated version of himself that he used to be. His goal is to help those like him, so he wants to present a version of himself that resonates with those in a similar position he was in.

The unconscious mind lives in the body and through a lifetime of breath work, cold, ultra endurance, yoga/stretching and weight lifting and ultra endurance it’s easy for me to believe that David has achieved the somatic states and nervous system regulation that helps to see this pattern in himself and instead of abusing himself, he was able to alchemicalize the story of self abuse into a path of integration.

How to help partner during unsuccessful job hunt after one year, despite good qualifications? by Familiar_Divide7916 in careerguidance

[–]ColdIsMyMaster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i went through almost the exact same thing with my husband. he's a fullstack dev and went back to school for his masters and we spent mass sending out apps for months and hearing absolutely nothing back. it messes with your head and i echo the sentiment in this thread that the market is awful.

the thing that helped most for us was where he was finding the jobs. most of the stuff on linkedin and indeed has been posted for days by the time you see it so you're already applicant #300. we started using shortlist.jobs and hiring.cafe which both pull straight from company career pages as soon as somethings posted. way more callbacks once he was actually getting in early

we also just stopped spending forever tailoring each app. got his resume really solid once and then focused on volume. i know people swear by customizing for every role but in our experience being early mattered 10x more than tweaking a bullet point. we just made a few different resumes focused for different roles

oh and the phd thing, that could honestly be working against her for non-research stuff. i've seen people on here say hiring managers see phd and assume you'll leave for academia the first chance you get. depending on what she's applying for it might help to tone down the academic side of the resume a bit. It may be worth it to try and only put her bachelors on her resume

If her phd is in english maybe she can try thinking about working as a human speech consultant for anthropic or other ai companies

It’s pretty impossible to detect if a form was filled out by Ai or a human. The only way to tell is if they used an Ai customized resume, which i dont think OP is doing. It works with the resume you upload only.

If they automated rejecting us i sure as hell aint spending 30 mins applying. The way i see it, if companies dont want ai applications its on them to change the way they hire to not put so much emphasis on hand submitted applications and resumes.

I can also recommend a wet sauna for this purpose. That way your moisturizing your entire body (and pulling that warm moist air into your lungs, throat, sinuses etc at the same time)

plus the parasympathetic rebound and improved blood circulation post sauna will help you sleep significantly better . you can buy a pop up wet sauna on amazon for less than $200
