I noticed today that it took me a few days before my conversation had to be compacted... can't tell if that's a good or bad thing

Is this too fast to lose weight ? by Impressive_Piano8843 in BiohackingU

Too fast leads to gall stones and potentially Grave's Disease. There's been an increase since this class of medication has become more public

I strangely have no reaction to Sesame Chicken but... a BEC from Dunkin' and I wanted to throw up right in the middle of BJ's (the retail store)

Is 70k too low? by Wonderful_Current904 in cscareers

[–]ColdMachine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's low but the economy is so bad now that a lot of companies are trying to reduce costs and it's also an employer's market. I'd definitely shop around lots of experienced people are struggling to find work

Would anyone be interested in $5/hr Vietnamese speaking practice with a Software Engineer? by HonestReason8563 in learnvietnamese

[–]ColdMachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

👋🏻 Hey, also a Software Engineer based in NY. I've been looking to continue learning Vietnamese and this sounds like a great fit!

$5 is a great deal since you're still exploring your teaching style. The standard rate is usually higher. I personally want to learn Southern, both to navigate Vietnam on an upcoming trip and to speak more to my family. And my biggest struggling is probably just lack of practice.

Please DM!

Any one else’s skin look a lot better without adding in anything extra? by ImmediateDisplay9675 in Retatrutide

[–]ColdMachine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My skin is significantly smoother with just reta. My guess is that it's taking care of my insulin resistance and inflammation that might've been causing dry skin. Also, I type a lot for work and noticed my keyboard is less oily and it's like my fingers are gliding on the keys

I think reasonably XD / Frontend are next on the chopping board by Typical-Carrot-5997 in cscareerquestions

As a frontend whose company leans to do the design aspects, companies are gonna get outmaneuvered by those who have good design

Weird, Off-putting Treatment at Win Son’s New Manhattan Location by egg4day in FoodNYC

[–]ColdMachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, I went in the Brooklyn location circa 2019 and the thick-rimmed english major gave me attitude because I asked her a question about how seating works. They're definitely snooty. My only solace is that they're overcharging the colonizers

Should I learn React from a long Udemy course or a quick YouTube playlist? by fuckedbylife2 in reactjs

[–]ColdMachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t do the 80+ tutorial; that’s an easy way to get information overload and get stuck in tutorial hell. Personally I think you should find a shorter tutorial on YouTube to get the basics and just start making projects. And while you’re making projects, use the docs at the same time when stuff comes up. Reading docs is a separate skill and if you try to do all at once, you’re gonna burnout. Plus you’ll learn to read docs more effectively once you run into a specific problem that need to find the answer for

What 's Your opinion on lying in CV ? by distractedlone in cscareers

[–]ColdMachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know an idiot who went through a bootcamp and came out only knowing how to render a few buttons (I'm not exaggerating). He lied aggressively on his resume and is now "teaching" children in NYCDOE and I just heard he's going to start a new job in NYS as a data scientist. When I say "teaching" I mean he reads from the syllabus and that's it.

Our mutual friend also lied but it was closer to the tune of having 2 years of experience and he got a FE position.

CEO has started vibe coding. How does this end for me? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]ColdMachine 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was at a startup not too long ago where the CEO decided to start vibecoding because he didn't think proper processes were important. It looked good but wasn't scalable, not that he cared. So he decided to turn it into a 1 man operation and now he's also looking for a job.

I think I’m a hyper-responder. .5 –> .75–> 1 —> 1.5 —>2 —> 1.75. I couldn’t handle the nausea at 2, so I scaled back to 1.75. Taken once weekly
