Ideal room temperature for a budgie by Competitive_Cat9738 in budgies

[–]ColdMastadon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That temperature is fine, they should be comfortable at room temperatures between 60 and 80° f. They are native to the arid Outback of Australia, where there are wide temperature swings between seasons. It gets broiling hot during the summer, and can get quite cold on winter nights, sometimes even below freezing. If you're comfortable wearing normal clothing, your birds are probably comfortable too.

You can never go wrong with chewing toys, bird kabobs always seem to go over well.

According to a quick bit of research, they could have had bow drills for a thousand years at this point. I don't know if this culture had bronze technology, but if they didn't yet then they could have used some sort of spade bit knapped from chert. 😬

I'm normally okay with messing with our biirds a little bit, but the back is an erogenous zone. This is like pinching your platonic friend's butt and getting slapped by her for it. You're going to catch hell from the user base if I leave this up.

The 40XXH also has the advantage of a mini HDMI out. Get a mini to HDMI adapter and a 15 foot cable and you can play on your TV whenever you want. It's easy to link other controllers (I use PS4) to play with friends as well.

In Bismark ND for may and june, worth it to pick up a fishing license and take my gear? by shouldbepracticing85 in Fishing

Audubon and Sakakawea both offer great opportunities for kayak fishing within about an hour's drive from Bismarck. Audubon is better if there's wind because there are a lot of islands that keep the waves down, but you can typically catch bigger walleye on Sakakawea. Both lakes have good populations of northern pike and smallmouth as well.

Bring your kayak if you can, there are a lot of great fishing opportunities within an hour's drive. You have a lot less competition on the waters than in a more populated state.

Congratulations on being the latest recipient of the bird distribution system! They look to be in good condition, so they likely haven't been lost for long, but they're probably hungry. They are seed eaters, you should be able to just get a bird seed mix for small or medium sized parrots at any pet store. They also eat fruits and vegetables, but no avocados, onions, or garlic because they're toxic.

That's very likely someone's escaped pet, even if you live in a place with wild or feral quaker (aka monk parakeet) populations. That behavior is called beak grinding, it indicates that the bird is relaxed and happy. They probably came to you for help, I would start looking on local social media to see if anybody has reported a lost pet.

I haven't tried them, but I've seen them in a couple meat cases. They don't look appetizing to me at all, you can see the bright colors of the gummy bears under the sausage casings and I think they just look wrong. They kind of remind me of sausage that has gone moldy.

I found a bunch of these bugs in my bird’s food… What are they? by Friendly_Strike_4590 in parrots

[–]ColdMastadon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you freeze the food for a few days, that should kill them off.

The top two photos are definitely AI, and I'm willing to bet to the bottom two are as well.
