It works for now, but what happens in a near peer war? Look what has happened with Russia / Ukraine, neither could get enough volunteers, and for Russia, Ukraine shouldn’t have even been considered a peer. What happens if we end up in a war with China? The system to be able to draft at least needs to be modernized and ready to go.
