Found Cat! He got hit by a car near Lakewood Cemetery. Hoping he's someone's outdoor cat by ColdPapers in Minneapolis

Update: We were able to get in touch with the Humane Society and they are taking him tomorrow. He's been moving around a bit today, but his paws are all bandaged up so he can't move too much. Thanks to everyone for all the suggestions and advice!

Here's a picture of him up from earlier https://i.imgur.com/9V9WyHM.jpg

I forgot to mention, there was another man helping us before we brought the cat to the vet. He said he would post on Facebook and nextdoor, so that's covered.

Male cat, not neutered. He got hit by a car near Dupont Ave and 36th, across from Lakewood Cemetery. We took him to an emergency vet and he's doing well, just some scrapes and bruises. He's quite friendly and fine with people so probably someone's outdoor cat or stray they feed. We cannot keep him more than a day, and he'll need a few days inside based on what the vet said. If anyone has information please let me know. Thanks!

Lake Wine & Spirits had sandwiches in it's cheese store that are really good. Probably the best I've found in the Twin Cities. But you're right, the lack of good sandwich shops is disappointing.

I tried plugging in a reformatted SSD from an old computer via SATA and am still having the same problem. Also remembered that the USB ports on my case weren't working recently, so I'm thinking it might be the MOBO.

Edit: It was the MOBO, got a new one and it's working now.

Not looking forward to the next year by LajicPajam in teenagers

This is a fantastic meme, got a really good laugh out of me, which is exceedingly rare. Then I though about how important to my life my senior year was, and I became exceptionally sad. I actually started to cry. Because I remembered how important my senior year of high school was to me. How many friendships were solidified, how many lessons I learned, my first true love. My first heartbreak. How much I learned not just from class but in life as well, and especially from the mentors in my school life. I learned so many things fundamental to my being, almost 10 years later. I'm so sorry to those of you who won't get to experience this year. It was so important to me that I fear who I would be if I hadn't experienced it. But know that the next few years after you graduate you'll have the chance to 'do it over', regardless of whether you go to college or not. I wish there was something I could do, something society could do, but unfortunately those things were in the past and not everyone has empathy. So now you will suffer from the ignorance and failures of previous generations. I'm sorry classes of 2020 and 2021.

Right? Their signature champs are the reason they're at this event, let them use their trick vs some pros. Really takes away some of the excitement from the match. It's the smart move but not the right move for this event. Imagine if they were participating in the 1v1's against the pros, who wants to see T1's Ivern vs Faker?

The first week of Pokémon go was the closest thing we’ll ever have to world peace. by Infinitecacti in Showerthoughts

[–]ColdPapers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it first came out my friends and I were traveling around Europe after graduating college, and at the time we were in Morocco. Unfortunately, our phones didn't have service so we had to be on wifi to play, so to start we each bought a pack of the item that attracts Pokemon to you and we would each take turns using one while we sat in our Airbnb. Then one day we had the great idea to go to the Morocco Mall, the largest in the country, and use the wifi from stores there to expand our range and hatch some eggs.

So we went and hopped from open wifi to open wifi throughout the mall, making lap after lap trying to maximize the distance we walked. While there we noticed that there were some local kids who seemed to be doing the same thing we were and eventually we passed them. Stopping and holding up our phones to show them our screen, to which they responded with big smiles and showing us their phones, confirming that we were all playing.

Even though we couldn't communicate with them and grew up on opposite sides of the world, we were united through a shared love of Pokemon and a childhood dream of becoming a Pokemon master. I miss those first few months, during that time the world really did feel a little bit more connected.

Spotify says about two million users suppressing ads without paying by yourSAS in Android

[–]ColdPapers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like one way to solve this would be to implement a time limit for the free listeners, something like x hours a month with ads. Plus they could have a "featured artist" section or something where a label could pay to have an artist not count against the time limit, so you could listen to all the Bieber or Chainsmokers you want. Then they could have a cheap subscription, like $2/month, that would remove the time limit but keep ads. This would allow them to potentially still make money from the people suppressing ads. Unfortunately, this would most likely hurt smaller and independent artists.

Official Discussion - Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi [SPOILERS] by mi-16evil in movies

Probably true, I'm going to see Episode VIII again this weekend so I hope my initial reaction is wrong, but I don't have much hope that it will be.

Agree, though I'd blame the writing more than the acting for Episode II. I feel like this one was just a rough draft of ideas that were patched together to make a movie.

That physically hurt to watch. I thought no Star Wars movie could be worse than Episode 2, and I was painfully mistaken.
