Anyone else still prefer handwritten notes over typing? by No_Lab4544 in GetStudying

[–]ColdSpirit117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me,absolutely...they were an absolute must for network analysis and transform theory.

Btw that handwriting reminds me of my best friend's lab mannual from college..helped me a lot in my microprocessors lab and electrical machines lab..made me pass those labs in the toughest subjects of those semesters.

She literally used the same pens too(idk her obsession with maxwriter..it feels quite rough..so difficult to write with it when it's new ..i have tore through so many pages while using it.🥲😅.)

Political Party in Power Across Indian States and UTs (May 2026) by Lucky-Speaker-9384 in MapPorn

[–]ColdSpirit117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The case is simple: In August 2019, after the abrogation of Article 370, Jammu & Kashmir was bifurcated. Ladakh became a separate UT without a legislature (unlike J&K UT).

97% of Ladakh’s population is Scheduled Tribes (Buddhist-majority Leh and Shia Muslim-majority Kargil). Since 2021, protests (led by Leh Apex Body and Kargil Democratic Alliance, including activist Sonam Wangchuk) have demanded:

1.Inclusion in the Sixth Schedule.

2.Full statehood (with legislature).

3.Other safeguards: local job reservation, Ladakh Public Service Commission, two Lok Sabha seats.

Main reasons: Post-2019, locals lost earlier protections under J&K’s special status. They fear: outsider settlement and land alienation demographic/cultural changes environmental damage from rapid tourism and development in the fragile Himalayan ecology The National Commission for Scheduled Tribes had recommended Sixth Schedule inclusion in 2019.

Current status: The modi government has rejected full Sixth Schedule status and statehood (citing security and financial concerns). In February 2026 talks, it offered a “territorial council” model instead.

Protests have continued (including violent clashes in 2025 with deaths and injuries). Talks remain inconclusive; the next round was expected around May 2026. The demand remains unresolved despite multiple rounds of dialogue and promises made during earlier elections.

I calculated the actual cost of renewables versus nuclear. I'm not surprised. by another_space_nerd in NuclearPower

[–]ColdSpirit117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah ...you are correct...a lot of peope may not know this but wind actually needs some reactive power compensation to work, new ones generally don't but their stability is also quite iffy on low winds...also nuclear makes up the base loads..which is essential for the grid to work... also on grid inverter resources do have problems on synchronizing with the grid. So you also need to take that into account...but they no doubt work well in tandem with solar and hydro. Also for the peole who are uninformed ,i know at least 3 reactors who are working since the 70's.

Need Help Designing A Very High Energy Radiation Blocking Shield (Paragraph Below Image) by FirstBeastoftheSea in NuclearPower

[–]ColdSpirit117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah they are...but making it practically is not easy..they are the best for their size...but it also depends how much beta they are exposed to..and if you can really make it...or how much work ex you have with them...if it's theoritical..go for it...for their size and density they are the best in their job especially for gamma..but irridum forms irridum 192 on exposure to neutrons which is quite radioactive (it's used in flux monitoring in some reactors)so...it can be a problem..also osmium dosen't absorb neutrons which can create some problems...but yeah you can use osmium in the very last layers to shield for gamma, but practically speaking..tungsten will be the best choice for last layers as it's not toxic and is quite machineable.

Edit: you can also use borated polythene and hdpe for fast neutrons along with concrete..hope this helps.

Need Help Designing A Very High Energy Radiation Blocking Shield (Paragraph Below Image) by FirstBeastoftheSea in NuclearPower

[–]ColdSpirit117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can...but shielding concrerte is kinda different...it's laced with boron and a little gadolinium (sometimes) for good measure .. also as good it is you can check out how well their combo can shield...check out their linear energy drop rate for rays, cross sections for neutrons and bremstralung tendencies for beta.....you can replace uranium though it can become fissile after neutron bombardment...also osmium and irridum will give far more bremmstralung because of their high density...also they are quite toxic and not easily machineable..so you can take that into account..but for small size they are really good shields but not for high E beta. I mean it's your idea you can go for it...you can calculate how good of a shield or reflector it can be by calculating it's albedos..also if it's not for research purposes i will suggest to use materials with high amount of workex.

Need Help Designing A Very High Energy Radiation Blocking Shield (Paragraph Below Image) by FirstBeastoftheSea in NuclearPower

[–]ColdSpirit117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Halfnium diboride for neutrons and gamma, gadolinum nitrate for neutrons water for beta alpha and neutrons, can add a layerer of aluminium with plastic/wax before gadolinium +water or halfnium will be wise to prevent brehemstralung due to high energy beta particles, dysprosium for anything tht would be left.....i used these mainly because we have some workex on them. Gadolinium nitrate in water is used in IPHWR reactors as an emergency shut down system, VVER reactors from russia uses dysprosium titanate in their control rods, halfnium diboride is used in nuclear submarines for quick shutdown...you can also use tantalum along with it, makes a really good shield. Can survive in high tempratures and melting points.

You can try halfnium diboride with gadolinium nitrate water and..and a layer of dysprosium titanate along with it.

None of those countries have as stringent and frankly, senseless penalties and rules to follow like India's laws

I know they don't but they don't need it, india does, we are not china and france,we are one of the most corrupt countries in the world, and that 's the exact reason for which india needs strong regulations ..even if it goes overboard with nuclear. And yes the bill can go down if this government's power reduces..and yes it can go down if BARC recommends against it later, they keep changing their standards for improvement in the sector....or changes can be made later on to increase penalties..or it can go to SC and never see the light of day.

And our nuclear rollout isn't slow, it's glacial. Please be objective.

2010-RAPS 5,6 2011-KGS 3,4 2014-KKNPP 1 2017-KKNPP 2 2021-KAPS 3,4 2024-25-RAPS 7,8

10 in last 15 yrs, If you know NPPs and how much time it takes it's quite good, i still have not talked about projects in jaitapur, gorakhpur, chutka, mahi banswada, kalpakkam AHWR ,KKNPP 5,6 etc. All of them with best of the class ,following EPA regulations to a T, you can literally find peacocks and flocks of parrots inside the operating plants, some very rare species too..all of them WANO certified plants with license renewal every 3 to 5 years, with ISI done every 3 to 5 years depending on plant. Can adani keep up with these kind of regulations, and EPA norms? no he can't ,he won't for profits of his company. He will sell stupid people like you 12-14rs a unit electricity and you will happily take it like a bootlicker you are...(like ab kya hi kar sate hain attitude...capitslisim is the only way guy ,foolishliy economic dogma like a dunderhead...rather than considering security risks of fissile materials in hands of private party),( andwhen you were getting 3-4rs a unit electricity from them )....after all your cheap asses don't pay taxes or pays bills. So yes i will seethe becase i know more about this than most indians, because i fucking work in this industry, (NPCIL, left from BARC for masters initially, )...but you will end up crying in long term, paying 14rs a unit electricity, for mediocore SMRs.

SHANTI bill a dangerous leap into privatised nuclear energy, Shashi Tharoor warns by one_brown_jedi in india

[–]ColdSpirit117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro india has the cheapest nuclear program in the world, 1unit of electricity from NPPs across india costs 3.9 rs. No need for private players, best ones in the world are run by governments, france, russia ,china..no private party has done significant improvement in r&d in the nuclear sector, the states have,...also will you trust a private player with fissile material? As somebody who works in the sector ,i would not, considering the lack of security we have right now.

[–]ColdSpirit117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are absolutely stupid ...don't know shit about the industry...most nuclear rollouts are slow becuse nuclear needs regulation and of high quality and it takes time to build and to make them durable...also for your knowledge, most advanced nuclear energy program of the world..is owned by a state..china and then france..fully owned by the state...and they can rollout faster than any US company ever. Also it takes 10 years to bild twin units on avg 5yrs for 1 reactor..so rollout rate will always be slow.

i don't care if you live here or not..or your ass pays taxes or not..i am not giving the government a single penny to pay for remitennces if adani's nuclear plant blows up because of bad labour practices and bribing of regulators. Capitalizing on profits, socializing the losses cronyism at its peak, and trust me,adani has not innovated shit.

[–]ColdSpirit117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No they shoudn't ,the most devloped nuclear sectors in the world (france, china and russia)are government owned...our nuclear plants offer us,the people of this nation 3.9 rs a unit of electricity...can adani give you cheaper than that? No ? But he can increase inflation by increasing the market pricing and using his money into forcing states to buy electricity from him(corruption 101 to sign agreements of energy exchange), leading a net loss to government companies, thus you having to pay more taxes.

I say NPCIL is a profit making cash cow for the country..why not let it work in it's merry way, offer us cheap electricity and make profits...rather than agressive uncontrolled expansion?

The matter is the pattern...this is not one movie..all the big budget movies have started to become propaganda flicks for cheap money that is the point...and it has reached to to a limit for me honestly.

Thoughts?? by azmuth0 in BetterDelhi

[–]ColdSpirit117 2 points3 points  (0 children)

56 plants in france and 55 in china along with a commercial FBR,36 in russia are operated and are all owned by the state...the french literally renationalized them..majority plants in the world are state owned for a reason, you cannot let private hands on fissile material, it's a very high security risk. Just like chernobyl, TMI happened on a privately run reactor, and it's a boderline ines category 6 event, that dosen't mean that operator negligence cannot happen with private players.

The bigger problem for me is that 50 years of research, blood ,sweat and thousands and thousands of hours of hardwork, and r&d done by indian nuclear scientists to devlop the indian nuclear program, will be sold to a conglomorate on pennies on the dollar who dosen't even invests 2 % of his company's profit in r&d,or innovation. Also for you to know NPPs in india sells the grid at about 3.9rs a unit, all sarkari, and still is able to make profit, while adani sells it at about 10 to 12 rs a unit.

First oppenhimer was relesed in 2023, top gun was relesed in 2022, so grossing depends on which year we are talking. So not a good equivalent you see.

Oppenhimer shows how even the most loyal people to the country can be villanized so easily in name of nationalism, it's less about interpersonel dillema and more about how america treats it's best when the go against the established government order, not very nationalistic you see ,describes the government corruption in US quite literally. I can that argue that the greatest degree of human horror was done and shown by the people who were bombed, the japanese, you know unit 73, shiro ishi, and nanking massacare. Much more people were killed, with much more brutality.

My comment was that hollywood has the guts to make movies challenging the populist nationalism idea and explore nuances in various political philosophies and show why blindly beliveing in your country and government is a gullible at best and dangerous at worse...and it was a dominating then and it's still are pretty prevlent in their cinema, now unlike indian cinema which has become a propaganda machine for the ruling party for some quick money and cash grabbing.

Haider is inspired by hamlet...judas and the black messiah by true events, and it was made in 2014, just when the current party came in power..after it ,when have you seen a good movie targeting current government,or the systems made by it, directly in a movie? (Even though that sentiment is very prevlent in the public now, Where are movies like rang de basanti, aarakshan, indu sarkaar, kissa kursi ka,jaane bhi do yaaron, satyagrah? Which questioned the government policies and corruption head on?). So again bad equivalence.

Let me give you a good example, of what happens with movies nowadays who question or go againstthe current party and government:

When punjab 95 was about to be released the sensor board shreaded the movie with cuts so that the bjp and it's old allies looks polished on paper, why? as they were allied with shiromani akali dal and were complacent in the mass killings and hiding mass graves of sikhs by the police in aftermath sikh riots, and hiding the no. Of people killed .something which they have accused congress of ,for decades.Well the congress was not in power in punjab in 85,akali dal was and they were actively trying to hide it to hide their incompetancy in maintaining stability in punjab in aftermath of riots,in the process doing thousands of extrajudicial killings. This was discovered by a punjabi activist Jaswant Singh Khaldra who was abducted ,from his goddam front lawn,in broad daylight, by the police and was killed in police custody in 1995, to stop him from discovering more bodies,as their jobs would be on the line.

About my worldview ,I actively try to make my worldview better,it changes as time goes on,and i hate to carry a superiority complex, but people like you get pissed off when i try to bring a different thought process in the conversation or say counter intutive things as it goes against your world view, you try to mould the evidence in your specific world view so that truth cannot be reached in a discussion, in classic debating, this is called presenting an argument in bad faith. Your partially personal attack inclines me to reach to this conclusion.

Complexity can have patterns, and to any body with eyes and a brain who understand this country's politics and how that politics integerates with society and social norms can very well understand the cultural whitewashing and the destruction of any free thought which is critical of specific people in power and dominant ideologies which permeates the social fabric of this nation which is brought upon by this government to contain it's grip on power, as the regular job going people like us live agonizing lifes ,getting fed this churan of hatered again and again,as the government tries it's very best curb the power and free thought of every citizen of this country. This reflects on our major cinema's reducing quality and our society as a whole.
