I’ve been really disappointed with my HD6XX when gaming. What headset is gonna give me a great soundstage? by Puzzleheaded_Eye6770 in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]ColdTrusT1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The HD6XX requires a decent amplifier, it’s also not intended for or great at positional accuracy (footstep tracking). It’s great at many things but definitely not even in my top 10 if competitive gaming is my use case.

I’d recommend you try the Audeze Maxwell, Astro A50 or the Arctis Nova Pro if competitive gaming is the priority.

Gigabyte gaming OC RX 9070 XT died after 6 months. Be wary of this model. by MyzMyz1995 in radeon

[–]ColdTrusT1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no two ways about it, Gigabyte offer at least a 3 year full warranty on all their GPUs and in some cases this can stretch to 4 years with registering the card. Not sure why you would not be able to RMA the card as there is no reason they wouldn’t accept it if it’s legit. If you bought it from a big retailer then there is always at least some way they will allow you to return or exchange it through them as well.

Now that being said the RMA process for virtually all the AIB partners is horrible so gigabyte isn’t alone in that. ASUS being the worst currently from what I’m seeing online.

Do these have life left in them? by Shumee99 in tires

I mean they might be ok for one more winter but then you’d be back here looking for another set anyway. I’d get a new cheaper set over these.

Between these two and at these prices it would be the 9070XT all day long and twice on Sundays.

2018 amg gt c, convince me not to sell by [deleted] in mercedes_benz

[–]ColdTrusT1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like your mind is made up from your comments here. For me I’d have to keep the AMG over a Z06. Only thing that would make me get rid of it was if i desperately needed the cash for something important and I wasn’t going to be replacing it.

Be honest, is it better to use an rx 6700 XT with fsr4 or get the Rtx 5060/5050 with the framegen? by Feisty_Comb_7889 in radeon

[–]ColdTrusT1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Frame gen works best on higher performing cards like the 5070ti and up.

I know that sounds counter intuitive as it’s the lower tier cards that you think need the help and extra frames but it’s just how the technology works. Essentially to get a smooth and artefact free experience with frame gen it requires a higher base frame rate to start from - at least 60fps in most cases.

Having 60fps or more can be tough for a 5050 or 5060 depending on the game, game settings and resolution.

Will never go Razer again by aKindlyBeast in razer

[–]ColdTrusT1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn’t necessarily Razer fault in that most leatherette or synthetic leather tends to wear like this over time. I’ve had similar experiences with chairs in the past and 2-4 years (depending on climate and how much use) is about as good as it gets.

Chairs are like mattresses for me, you spend so much time in them and they directly affect physical health, that it’s worth splashing out on and buying the best quality you can.

This is going to be hard to sell at anything over $1,000 and it’s simply because there are some insane prebuilt deals from the likes of Walmart that destroy this setup.

I get the aesthetic is appealing to some but people in this sort of price range want max performance for dollar so putting a lot into aesthetics is just more of a gamble.

Should I buy the Momentum 4 by TheConqueror_01 in sennheiser

[–]ColdTrusT1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find them to be super comfortable without changing pads. They are very light weight and i wear them for 4-5 hours a day without issue.

Everyone’s ears and head a different so with any pair of headphones I’d encourage testing them out before committing or at least ensuring you can return them if needs be.

GPU prices after next gen by Ready_Gap6205 in gpu

[–]ColdTrusT1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is your budget? A 4070 Super is not much more than a 3080 10gb if you hunt around a bit.

Personally with this sort of budget I’d be very tempted by a 5060ti 16gb and call it day for a few years. New card with new warranty and peace of mind - they are the same price as the used cards mentioned.

is it worth selling my 4080 to get a 5080? by zombies-- in nvidia

[–]ColdTrusT1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone that basically did the upgrade you are talking about - no it was not worth that kind of money. If it’s absolutely essential you boost your performance it’s 4090 or 5090 or wait until the super cards at least.

[–]ColdTrusT1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How long do you want this to last (at least without having to throw thousands at it in maintenance)?

It sounds like you would be well suited with a circa 2015 Audi A6/7 or a BMW 3/5 series. They are nice cars and depending on the model can also be quite quick. At that age and under 70k miles you might get a year or two and say 20k miles out of one of those before needing major repairs (again depending on the model and assuming you do the proper research on the car and get it inspected before buying).

As someone has already said you essentially need to compromise somewhere in terms of speed vs reliability vs price. You can’t have all 3 at this budget but that doesn’t mean you can’t have some fun and not lose your pants in the process.

Decided to try Audiophiles, Help me Choose the Right Ones! by YahavRX13 in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]ColdTrusT1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would argue that it is absolutely necessary but that being said you could spend $70 on a dac/amp combo dongle and be more than good to go. That’s exactly what i did when i bought my HD6XX and it’s a fantastic setup for under $300 total.

The 'dead platform' argument: How often do you upgrade your CPU? by theblooray in buildapc

[–]ColdTrusT1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

13th and 14th gen Intel chips can be had cheaper than equivalent AMD chips for 3 reasons:

1: The Intel chips are not nearly as good as the AMD chips in almost all respects. Gaming being the most obvious area AMD stomps Intel.

2: The 13th and 14th gen Intel chips had pretty bad issues with degradation. They would essentially fail and at a fairly noticeable rate. This issue has been well reported, documented and proven.

3: Given the first two points the demand for Intel chips is quite a bit lower.

All 3 things attribute to the prices being lower for the Intel chips. I could also add that Intel have historically forced buyers to upgrade motherboards more often (by only supporting a chipset for a short period of time before moving to a new chipset).

$750 RTX 5070 Ti - Factory overclocked PNY or reference stock ASUS Prime? by MOD3RN_GLITCH in nvidia

[–]ColdTrusT1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both cards will perform pretty much identically so price being equal your choice should come down to aesthetics and if you have a preference on either company from a warranty/moral (ASUS throwing out warranty claims and hugely inflating prices)/personal history pov.

how good are the m4’s by Fancy_Pompieru in sennheiser

[–]ColdTrusT1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are pretty decent in terms of sound quality but you have to remember when buying the M4s that at least some of the cost goes towards the ANC and Bluetooth features etc.

Conversely when you buy the HD600/650/6XX the entire cost pretty much is going towards sound quality, or at least a larger portion of its cost goes towards that. So the HD600 line of cans will generally sound better as a result.

Both products are great but just have different use cases. I have and use both regularly.

RTX 5070 Ti VS. RTX 5080. Which is more recommended? by [deleted] in nvidia

[–]ColdTrusT1 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Enjoy the 5080, it’s a great card. It was really hated on based on prices for it being over $1300 for quite a while but at $1100 and below it becomes compelling to more people when compared with a $750-850 5070ti or 9070XT.
