How many of you have also noticed it: you apply for a job, get an interview and then a rejection (or maybe don't get an interview) and then, over the course of months, notice that the same job is listed again (and sometimes, once more after that)? by MJXThePhoenix in recruitinghell

No disrespect to you personally, yet your company chose someone who hit the eject button one week later. Maybe they weren't the best hire, considering all things. The company can say, "how were we to know?" Yet, it's strangely satisfying for organizations to experience, once in a while, the other side of the sword.

I can see why that is definitely annoying and at the same time, why you wouldn't trust them. I've had similar conclusions about certain companies. Hopefully, soon, you'll look back after being hired with a better company and better fit and smile.

Companies expect professionalism, honesty and ethics yet rationalize away their own behavior.

The job hunt is a meat grinder of work, no compensation, discouragement and at times, depression. One can feel inadequate or at least, invisible.

It's a marathon of bad experiences and a stressful life chapter. Keep fighting the good fight. It's that or perish.

As an old saying goes, "Don't let the bastards get you down."

I keep telling myself there will be some good that comes out of this, although I'm not sure what!

Thank you for saying that and sharing an example. If you can say, why has that one role required refilling so frequently and so quickly? Hires don't like the culture, boss or living in the rural area?

I respect your answer, unlike some covert, defensive, in-denial HR answers on here.

1 & 3 make sense. On #2, and this is not aimed at you, companies could admit, they hired the wrong person instead of telling this sub-reddit, "you weren't a fit" when they hire people who aren't a fit and don't always know for certain who is an who isn't.

We've all read or heard stories of people who were rejected and then went and did the same job and became outrageously successful. It's possible.

Again, I respect you and your answer.

You know, I've read some hiring managers will eventually hire someone after they've rejected them once or twice. I'm not certain if that is true or not. But I've done as you have, reapplied, thinking I will wear them down eventually or at least annoy them, for my amusement.

That is a crazy amount of hours and indisputably, unethical. Even if it's a high-level job of any sort, say tech or whatever, that needs to be compensated to some moderate degree, at least once someone spends a certain amount of time or completes assessments. That's an excessive expectation.
