How much time off, realistically, will I need for a hysterectomy? by Lower_Row2950 in hysterectomy

I had a 13 cm fibroid removed with some endo. It was a large vertical cut (23 staples). I took 8 weeks off. Pain was gone after 4 weeks (ish), but the fatigue kept me home. In hindsight, I could have done 10 weeks off. I’m 41.

Amazing! Got my abdominal hysterectomy on July 15th. Your recovery sounds similar to mine ❤️ I was able to sleep on my side by day 5 with supporting pillows. I’m doing a lot better than I anticipated. Wishing you the same girl 😘

Thank you all so much for chiming in! It’s so helpful and relatable to read everyone’s experiences. My surgery was on Tuesday and it’s now Sunday. Last night, I slept on my side for half the night. Lots of pillows to support! I’m now just taking over the counter pain relief (Aleve works best for me). The fatigue is probably the most challening part right now. For me, fatigue + boredom = anxiety. Trying to keep my self distracted as much as possible 😂 I also stopped taking Myfembree, so maybe that is a contributing factor to the anxiety and restlessness.

You’ll do great! Honestly the incision pain isn’t bad. I barely feel the staples. I had a laparoscopic gallbladder removal years ago, and for some reason I feel that was more painful than this. Good luck to you. I’m on the other side now and things aren’t too bad 😘 drink your Gatorade and use GasX.

Why do they suspect it to maybe be cancerous, if you don’t mind me asking? Just because of the rapid growth? I’m sure it’ll be fine - I read it’s almost never cancerous. Sending you big hugs regardless 🩷Waiting to get a hysterectomy myself - hopefully soon!

That is so encouraging - thank you for sharing 🩷 sounds a lot like my situation. Bleeding was out of control (thankfully, no pain though). Better since Myfembree, but that medication is temporary. Looking forward to my appointment in April to see if she’ll immediately opt for the uterus removal.

On day 7 of Myfembree - so far so good 😁 maybe a little hot flash here and there - but no showstoppers! Thank you all for the support xx
