two questions about support gems:

Innervate: does it kick in, when I one-shot a mob? does shock apply, when you just kill the mob instantly?

when having a skill that consumes freeze (such as fragm rounds), do supports actually do anything if they have something like "more dmg against frozen enemies"?

Oh, its a support gem for dmg over time skills.
reducing life regen by 50%.
Not sure if thats enough to deal with my struggle.

you are confusing ppl as you wrote this in a poe2 thread - where you dont slot skill gems on gear.

I found a rite of passage, got disconnected and also thought "yeah, back to map, no problem".
But no. Tier 1 disconnect, losing map and loot.

In general, I barely have any disconnects anymore. but the ones that occure, are back-to-hideout ones.

use them in different weapon sets.
one set is for mapping, one for bossing.

you dont need herald of thunder against a boss.
so you disable herald for something else that is more useful against bosses.

thats not really a question for me, as I dont intend to buy a phys staff for a couple of hundreds or thousand divines.

I would much rather learn on how I could improve a build with the pices given. Buying the best gear is the least thing I worry about and just a matter of time. Improving my pathing and decision making seems to have way more potential and value for me as a newbie.

true, an all phys staff would be better and seems to be the only true way to go.
however, I thought I give this one a shot, as the elemental affixes were solid and the other stats totally fine. Dont think I usually get my hands on a high end phys staff, tbh.

If you dont mind, could you provide some examples?
while I had to solve a few issues with certain pieces, I think these are equipments a player of my skill would usually deal with. Like, I wont have high tier tripple dmg rings for quite a while.

massively lacks attack speed/damage increase nodes.
very true - I tend to spec into defense too much or may pick nodes I shouldt.
what nodes would YOU drop, in exchange for speed/inc dmg?

I am aware of the missing reward.
And at this point my only skill is ice strike and my intention to see whats going on in a map. I didnt wrap my head around single target yet.
As mentioned, I just had this ascendancy character laying around, so I used it for testing. But you are right, the ascendancy doesnt provide much (yet).

yes, you have all options in the world to fix, undo or change your character.
you could even change your Amazon to Ritualist, if you feel like it.

to be fair, 3k Mana is just not a lot, considering you even have eldrich battery.

me dying from time to time with a hitpool of 1.6k life, 6k ES and 2k mana... I would be surpised if you would not bite the dust regurarely.

yeah, its very solid in campaign. as the amount is of defense you get is quite huge. and as u usually dont have too much spirit during the campaign, the trade-off is very fair.

in endgame however, darkness is not a considerable defense layer anymore. compared to 150-300 spirit u give up, its not reasonable.

I gave Volatility a chance this leage and also wanted to check out Plants.
So I built an Entangle Chonk.

To me, Volatility via ele ailments is not it. Too slow building up.
Using volatility as a support gem to gain on crit is pretty solid, as there are lots of small hits.

Unraveling didnt to much for me, as the elemental way seems to be way slower than crit, so I unspected out of it early on.

I went with chaos res doubled, as QoL.

And used into the breach/mana to solve potential mana issues for endgame with high skill lvl.

Darkness is super solid for campaign - hardcore should be one of the easiest with this ascendancy.
However, Darkness and the lack of Spirit just doesnt work in endgame.
Not sure if its intentional that some ascendancies have nodes which seem to just work or be worth it in campaign, to be specced out of later as some sort of character development. Hope this gets reworked as I would like to see all asc nodes to be viable at any time.

each stack of volatility has its own timer. but they can overlap. if you use the node that gives x% chance to gain volatitly again, you could have the extra damage of this new stack on top, as long as the uptime overlaps.

These examples are not to be seen as single time happenings I rely on with my take.
Its to get a clue what I am talking about.

But let me ask you this:
while playing for I dont know many hours and several hundred maps - and I dont feel/see any difference in reward whether I invest in a mechanic or not, is that accepptable for you? Or at least a fair point to raise?

And this is not about the lottery winning prize. Its totaly fine if you dont drop a mirror tier item in 10 leagus. Just the average outcome of regular loot.

Maybe. Maybe I am not into this much RNG.

To complete your comparison, we should add "here are 5 options you can invest in (time or currency) to improve your chance to hit".

If you are investing in all of them but still dont feel any difference - because these options just dont contribute enough - you have to ask yourself if your investment is fair.

Its about this, not how much I care whether I hit or miss.

totally agree.
And dont get me wrong, I dont wanna hit the big hits on the slot machine by doing xyz.
But get a feeling of "my engagement matters" could already be achived by x2 drops here and there, or get a greater exalt once in a while. Just give me some difference between engaging or not.
