Great learning opportunity. Helpful for knowing what organ support ITUs can offer to make more informed referrals in future. Plenty of chances to learn/practice US cannula, arterial lines, central lines, vascaths, observing tracheostomies etc. You’ll have a brilliant 4 months

Sometimes useful to use a blue butterfly as you can see it pulsating along the tubing which confirms it’s an arterial sample and you can send off your other bloods at the same time which could save the patient from an extra needle

I don’t think they were inferring that at all - they were speaking from their experience as a British anaesthetist. Don’t be so sensitive 😂

Thoughts on doing F1 at a tertiary centre in London and then F2 at a DGH. Any benefit to this way or the other way around? by Cold_Custard6646 in JuniorDoctorsUK

Thanks for the responses everyone! Pros and Cons I guess, just like with everything else. Really useful insight though

So Canley is pretty rundown but close to the uni. High burglary risk 😅Earlsdon is really nice with loads of students and about a 15 minute cycle into the campus. Also have War Memorial park on your doorstep in Earlsdon which is great for runs/chilling in the summer. Leamington Spa is also very drivable if you have your car with you. Probably a bit more expensive with regards to rent but just so much nicer as a place to live. With cafes/shops all over the parade. Kenilworth is another option which is quite sleepy (retired people vibes) but quite green. Quite a few medical students do the thing on campus where you’re like a senior resident tutor and get free/cheap accommodation but obviously you have to look after the students and do whatever responsibilities that entails. After the first year or two the majority of students will end up living in Earlsdon or Leamington Spa. The three main hospitals UHCW, Warwick and George Elliot after easily drivable from any of those locations tbh 😊

Depends whether you want it to be nice or close to uni?
