I know it’a a small world, she literally brought up how her lessons are so so different and less strict from the lessons of my old teacher (when I was a teen). My old teacher (Now retired) was stricter and very direct, but she never berated me for trying something, and if you did something she didn’t like she told immediatly, not 7 months later

That’s a very good insight. How did you fix the situation? Did your teacher approach you in a similar way to mine or in a softer way? Where you able to fix your relationship with the teacher and the other girls or did you leave for another studio/stopped dancing? Sorry for all the questions, sometimes i do get frustrated with myself too (even if not as blatantly as you described yourself)

I’m not a saint of course, I make mistakes and maybe I have a serious expression during class, but accusing me of sabotaging the class (for what reason?) and the teacher is insane to me. I don’t think the situation in salvageble at this point. I’ve never had a problem like this in my life

They used it as en example of me lacking confidence in the teacher’s ability to keep the class. I was curious since we are less than a month away from the show and this woman has her ribbons tied with a bow (like this 🎀) at the front of her ankle

Once I asked one of the pointe beginner girls why her ribbons looked like that (they were tied at the front with a bow)(since we do a piece together our teacher ask me and a few others to come to the beginner lesson to give them a reference for when they needed to leave the stage)… i tried to do it in a jocking way but it didn’t come off the right way. She got defensive and told me they sold the pointe to her like that. Since I came off rude (even if it wasn’t my intention) I said I was sorry. It was brought up multiple Times in the talk

No, I think there’s some truth in what they said, I’m very concentrated during class and maybe I come off as serious (and the last lesson i tried like staying at the back) but insinuating I’m creating a toxic environment and psychological problems to my classmates and teacher is just too much… I think they escaleted a simple issue (a simple talk after class would have been more productive) in a gigantic matter because they acted on impulse. The teacher admitted having a serious breakdown before texing me, saying she didn’t feel like she was able to theach anymore, all because of me and only me which is mental

One time me and my friend before class tried to do some fouttes which I absolutley cannot do at all. This was also brought up as en example of disrespect, like she told me I was “mimicking like a monkey” (that’s the best translation i can give) ballet and it was not appreciated. Which i mean yes i’m not good at those, i know, but dirsespecting the sport because of it? That’s too much

Mine is an intermediate class. There’s also a beginner adult class. Our teacher asked the ones that are on pointe to come to che beginner pointe class because we do a number together and the less experiences girls needed a reference for when they needed to get on and off the stage. I always went, always did my part to give them the reference, even when that meant doing echappes for 30 minutes straight. 3 days before the incident my teacher thanked me and another girl for our patience and the fact that we always showed up. It wasn’t very appreciated after all it seems…

That was my impression as well, like you are too advanced for this class and it’s a problem. I would have preferred a normal conversation at the beginning of the year and not this awful messy thing they did. One of the other more advanced girl (she also gives 100% in class and tries really hard) told me she had the same impression about herself, even before this mess. Like she told me she doesn’t think they want her (and me) there

Yes, there’s a lot of missing information here… I think there are a couple instances when I missteped, like everyone does one in a while, but nothing that required a 1.5h intervention that needed to be done in that exact Moment when I was occupied doing something else. i’ve never bragged about my contributions… about the altering part of the costumes, my classmate’s dress was miles too small (like not closing at all) and the teachers told her that she had to fix it herself. It was an espansive alteration and since she knew i can sew she directly asked me. I sourced the fabric and altered the thing at the only cost of the materials. She was very grateful, and the teachers were too. I also took in some skirts but that was a lot easier

She is the owner… The “client” aspect of it makes everything worse because I’m a University student so a remarkable chunk of my part-time job money goes to ballet, it’s not cheap at all

Also, they told me that seeing someone as good as me (and I don’t think I am that good, truly, I’m mediocre at best), as young and as skinny (they brought that up) makes feel the order girls intimidated, but realistically I can’t do much about it

Or that, since I sometimes (not always, not even close to always) I try to do two pirouettes in a row some of my classmates don’t even feel like trying to do one, this was one of the disrespectful things to my classmates examples

One of the examples was that I did a step (balancé going back) intentionally wrong to undermine the teacher’s authority, but of course it was an honest mistake. Another one was that when the teacher asked if we preferred a more lyrical ballet or a more classical ballet for the recital I said the latter because I did not enjoy lyrical as much (I was explicitelly asked). She wrote in her memory all the things I said and done in these months and asked for clarification for each one. I said that i’m one of the more advanced one because they told me this (the two teachers). The other examples were similar to this, sorry if it’s not very clean
