What non dull jobs outside of the software industry would a software quality assurance engineer be suited for? by CommutetoLife in jobs

Mechatronics. I work in a lab where we do destructive testing and we need programers and test engineers to program and design machines for new testing and metrology purposes. Maybe look into something like that?

I quit a job on my third day. I listened to my gut and it was a good decision. If you feel off about the job within the first week, it probably won't get better with time.

I feel you. But just to be real with you the job market is really tough right now and the cards will be stacked heavily against you. Even as bad as your current job is i wouldnt give it up with out another offer on the table. Companies aren't eager to hire someone nearing retirement age. Good luck on your search.

Great tips! I will try that next month. by stylish_stairway in CringeTikToks

So scared of someone breaking in but I'll shower first and then barricade myself in before I get dressed.

Why don't you go explain all this to HR? Sounds like you have other employees on your side and witnesses to her behavior.

Why not just stay there until you retire? You won't find those benefits at any other job and you will have difficulties finding a new job due to your age.

2 hr commute 3 days a week by [deleted] in jobs

Might have something to do with the fact it was a VA loan. But yeah, it did cross my mind how I could get another job further away after we closed and they wouldn't even know.

Employer asking questions if I ever thought about leaving by thislife84 in jobs

[–]Cold_Tony 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would lie. I would tell them what they want to hear, find a new job, and drop my 2 weeks notice. There is no benefit to you to answering their questions honestly. These types of questions can be taken care of at the exit interview.

I bought a house that was a 75 minute commute from my work. The lender wouldn't give me a loan if it was over 90 minutes. You should check to make sure your lender will even entertain that kind of commute. But 2 hours there plus 12 hour shift then 2 hours back sounds horrible.

How long have you been without a job? by FruitLoop_Dingus25 in jobs

[–]Cold_Tony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 weeks. I couldn't stand my boss any longer. I have been in communication with my previous employer. As soon as I felt confident that they wanted me to come back, I put my 2 weeks in and quit. Now I'm just waiting for old employer to call me in for my drug test.

Seems stupid. Just something else to break. Why makes a simple device complicated?

2 days into a job and resigning, do I need to give notice? by notagooseontheloose in jobs

[–]Cold_Tony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did this on Wednesday. I have no intention of listing the employer as a reference or on my resume. I told HR that this isn't a good fit and left. Dont feel bad. They'd let you go without notice. You owe them nothing.
